A lot of consoles you can swap the psu for a local one.
Xbox 360 just use the equivalent local brick to use an import, fats and slims.
Some PS3 consoles have internal PSU with universal voltage, idk if all of them do but some of the early Japanese fats you just swap the cord for a local one (they will run on 240V power) - this is the way people here actually get to use a full hardware BC fat PS3 as we never had a launch fat with that gear (only the software BC version was released here).
PS1 & 2 slims have external power supply providing DC to console so you just swap that for your local.
PS2 fat - I've seen the internal PSU of a Japanese import swapped out for a local equivalent.

Think the only console I have that actually needs a step down transformer is my launch Japanese PS1

I figured there was probably a solution to playing imports. Having the Fat PS3 launch or early model is nice. It plays PS1, PS2, PS3 and a lot of other Audio CD formats. The only thing that really sucks is Sony taking away the OtherOS feature. Talk about a dick-head move to remove it, when it was one of the selling points early in the system's life. I mean yeah you can downgrade the firmware and stuff, but still. You can probably also use a voltage converter/transformer as well.

I'd like to get a Famicom. Regardless for early consoles there are certain tricks you can do to play imports on them.

At least now, most modern consoles are region-free.

The original Famicom consoles are region free. There is no lockout chip or anything. All you need is an adapter as the cart slot is 60pin.
PAL carts via adapter will obviously run at the wrong speed but they do work.

I have a 72pin to 60pin adapter for my Famicom but I only need it for testing US retail carts I may come across.
My PAL NES is stock I never messed around with the lockout chip.
I have a Famicom version 60pin Chinese Everdrive N8 clone.

Basically the only retail carts I can't play are PAL B, as my region is PAL A. I'm not aware of any PAL B exclusives but there might be PAL A exclusives (think there's an Aussie footy title and probably some others idk). PAL A is UK, Australia and Italy. I have one Italian cart (Metal Gear) and it's all English, not sure if I have any UK carts but it's possible I guess.

So a cheap copy of the more recent version of CoD Modern Warfare (XB1) arrived today.
I throw the disc in my console and it starts installing like 5 separate things, one of which requires an update that is over 90GB

Isn't the whole thing supposed to be around 220-230gb?

I might be thinking of something else but sure it was a war type fps though.

No idea, I selected update now so I could install from disc and net but I can only see the size for that first part of 5 so far.
It's 7.06GB from disc and 91.24GB from network just for the first part

I could pause the download and let the next one start but can't be bothered doing that right now just to see

ok so why are these updates so big? seems pretty messed up having updates in the 10's of gbs unless they're actually adding more (free) content.

Well I still have about 2TB of free HDD space atm
I don't even have maximum storage hooked up either. Only 1TB internal and 8TB external, I could double the external but not sure about the internal. Is there an XB1 with 2TB internal HDD?
This is bugging me now I'll need to check

It could be extra content sometimes. I know game assets these days can be pretty huge so giant fixes or changes to these could cause it. Might be easier for devs to have people download set portions of a game instead of just injecting or integrating smaller new files for stability reasons too

Pretty sure there's 2tb xbox consoles.

I just have a 500gb One S and a 2tb external for it. Got about 750gb free right now altogether. Does the trick I suppose, doubt it would be enough for everything I own though.

Yeah there's a 2TB model and there's a tool to format XB1 drives, sorta like the tool to format drives for 360.

Those are all BC though, I think I have maybe 10-20 or so XB1 titles uninstalled atm.
Should probably look for a 16TB external at some point, not now though. Prices aren't great for drives like they were years ago.

For this game it's probably fine detail graphics like you can see a nice red mist from a testicle hit even though you're over a mile away, literally
