As for why, just started looking, and hitting the first stuff I've come across.

*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

Sometimes if you haven't used JD2 for a while you need to let it sit for a bit to get updates. Yeah a few times I've started it up, added links as soon as it was ready to go and shit didn't work properly.
But all the links I've used on that site are compatible, for the protected links the site even states they are for "JD use only" (whatever the hell that means).
I get a lot of stuff there, but reddit usually has new BP's sooner (because backporters usually post there after twitter release).

I only ever went to twitter once to get Fatal Frame BP, I think it was like a week or something before the BP finally filtered out to dlps.
Well, I have looked there more than once but was just curious. I only ever dl'd that one BP from twitter.

Just bookmark r/pkglinks and dlps. You don't really need anything else imo. Reddit has a heap of PS2 ports by Vika (a few by some others, but she does a lot of testing and posting there and elsewhere).

Don't care about BP's, I jumped up to 9.00. I could've installed the 7.xx mods I've ignored for years, but there looks to be no real advantage to em.

Reminds me of a time when some dude loudly declared some electronics were promised to him and that he was going to scrap them .

Maybe I should give the 9.xFW exploit a try.

Yeah people claim 9.00 is great but I'm still on 5.05 and have never failed to load exploit first time, seen kernel panics or anything.
It works quick and easy. I've never had any issues so why change?

If you were above 5.05 already then yeah it's recommended to update to 9.00, but most sensible people still think 5.05 is the best.
Anything in between kinda sucks from what I've seen... people posting "hey I get error blah blah I'm on 6.xx"

There is at least one game that can't get 5.05 BP but I can't recall which, I do know I have it on XB1 anyway so I don't care. Maybe there are some others but they would be a similar story; nothing significant.

I haven't had a recent read but it needed usb drive like a dongle for the exploit iirc. There was talk of removing that requirement but idk if it happened.
    I didn't need it anyway

I have notepad monitoring turned off. I like to do everything manually to stay super organised.. plus nothing worse than forgetting it's turned on and going off to do other shit.
Come back later and it has grabbed a load of random shit

With the reddit stuff just watch the download names, sometimes the uploaders just have messy pkg names and I don't like that. If you load up a heap at once the names can be confusing... I like to be organised, did I mention that?

Sounds like PSP. I've left my PSPs on 5.03 and I've never had a reason to bother with updating them.

I think it also needs to ping a website (or local server) but I only skimmed in reading about the exploit.

I always update PSP's to 6.60 CFW, and I use lite (non-permanent). No bricks.
Use CDDA plugin for PSX conversions.
No messing around with POPS or anything, it isn't needed.
Betas run fine, including Oblivion mods (as long as extra ram is enabled so obviously you can't run them on 1000 models).
