Yeah I only have fixed wireless, adsl is still active locally too but the top speed is nowhere near this.
I think my top speed has nudged like 5-10Mbps higher than what it was last year, but that's just what I noticed in the last few months.
I'm paying like $70aud p/m though... certainly not cheap considering what that money can get you in a large city like Melbourne

don't count on that I have cable and there's competition in my area and my net still sucks. I haven't seen my dl speeds go above 5-5.5mbs granted i haven't payed strict attention to my speeds that's just what I've noticed lately.

My ISP is a smaller entity and I don't expect anything to happen but I think there's a chance at least. The major providers have non-compete agreements with each other.

There's still "competition" in the same sense that there was competition when Acti/EA/TakeTwo/EA/etc started buying up developers decades ago. They would circumvent or delay any legal action if it were to occur anyway .
