Why? I have a PAL NES and a Famicom that has a decent av mod (also USB power mod). Famicom type Everdrive N8 clone and a 60 to 72 pin adapter.
The only NES games I would need to emulate are ridiculous hacks that are huge, possibly some newer homebrew releases as I haven't tested all of those yet (some might work anyway).

I'll just put this old lappy away for the time being...

I actually have both NES adapters... one to run NES carts on Famicom and one to run Famicom carts on NES.

Sounds like that's about all it could run. Maybe a fun project in spare time. Fuck I dunno, just an idea.

It originally shipped with win95 so I assume it would be fine for dos shit and early windows games.
Haven't investigated the actual CPU and what shitty graphics it has. CPU should be a 1st gen pentium.

I hooked it up to a 1080p LED LCD

checked the esr compatibility list last(I thought it was long gone) found that the rock band track packs are compatible so I grabbed the classic rock pack. I burned it this morning it works I played a couple songs but I'm disappointed with it I wish I could have seen a full song list before I wasted my time on it.
most of the song choices suck(and some of the bands) so many good bands that got left out maybe I'll look into the metal pack and see if that has the bands I want otherwise I'll grab ac/dc at least they

I tested OPL over LAN. HDD is preferable but LAN seems alright for quick testing (provided the game doesn't freeze or have some other error).

I had some trouble getting the PS2 to connect but I got it running by manually configuring everything. I also had to make a DVD sub-folder and rename the ISOs to their codes, which isn't mentioned in the tutorial I linked for reasons unknown .

I think my initial file location would've been fine (it connected) but I moved it to the root of the drive before I corrected the structure and filenames.

I forgot about needing a crossover cable. so network is out for me I thought to try usb and found out about an open loader for a specific file format called EXT2 which avoids the hassles of using fat32 or ntfs after hours of waiting on my shit usb drive to format I popped it in my ps2 with the opl elf on it my ps2 wouldn't get past my boot screen I tried it with my smaller drive same problem.
*sigh* so I'm either stuck with the hassle of splitting any game over 4gb or I get a pack of dvds(which is what I'm leaning towards)

You can't use 2x standard cables and a switch?

I suggest always using quick format unless you have a specific reason to full format.

*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here
