On a budget a console is probably better value, right now anyway. Unless you're unlucky and something goes horribly wrong with hardware, you can resell everything.
PC is good, but you need to spend a lot and be pretty lucky finding the right parts cheap atm.

Reselling games isn't a huge deal, at least over here (I would be surprised if the US is any different).
You don't even need to go the ebay/CL or whatever route.
The likes of EB Games never give good trade value, but JB Hi-Fi generally does.
I've bought PS4 games in the past (on sale, new, random sources) and then traded within a year. Sometimes I've lost a few dollars, but generally not lost anything with those trades and even made money on some occasions

I'm just thinking now probably isn't the right time to be building a budget PC for gaming.

Pretty sure there's RA for PS4.
I have RA on my XB1S and that console is completely retail, no dev account for side loaded games/apps.

But for either of these consoles there isn't any PS3 emulation afaik.

Probably about the same over here for resale.

I don't disagree but if he doesn't need a discrete GPU he can do alright. He can always pick up a GPU later whenever a deal pops up.

It sounded like it'll be a while before he has the money set aside. Hopefully all options will improve by then .

Well we're going to be going through my Grandma's stuff at her house soon.

I get the collection of NES, SNES, and Atari 2600 stuff plus a couple promotional VHS and Pokemon VHS tapes...I guess there's always a silver lining lol...

Wonder if Skyrim Anniversary will be a "new" game download or if it will just update the last one and can still use an old save

Apparently it's an update. It pretty much breaks existing mods because the compiler is different, so I'm guessing the "update" will possibly be a full download?
I haven't seen any mention about saves compatibility.

Are they going to re-release Skyrim until the end of time?
