Talking Any Comic Book fans here?

I hope i'm not alone. Anybody like American comics? How about Chinese comics? (such as Storm Riders, Blood Sword Dynasty, Legendary Couple, or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon)

Me, i grew up with American comics. As a child, i used to love the Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, The X-Men & The Avengers, but never thought about reading anything else. Now that i am older, i read many, many different kinds of comics, though unfortunately, many comics coming from Marvel nowadays just aren't that great in comparison to the good old days. The Hulk barely appears in his own comic now, for pete's sake. X-Force got butchered & turned into some mockery, & most of the X-Men books are nothing like i grew up with, & tie in too closely with the movies...

But anyways, some books are still incredible. (or 'were', before recent revamping...Why fix something that isn't broken?) Among my current favorite titles by company are as follows:

    Marvel

Captain Marvel - PAD (Peter David) is simply an astounding writer. Great combination of humor & action. He has turned Genis into an extremely likable character.

Black Panther - The series was great before it turned into the current 'guns a blazin' book. Priest's work on the book was amazing, turning T'Challa into a sort of "Batman to the extreme." He took over Tony Stark's (Iron Man) company with a single phone call for crying out loud!

Taskmaster - It was only a 4 issue mini, but this series rocked more then most other series in recent memory. UDON has a very distinct anime feel in their artwork, & turned Taskmaster into the biggest badass this side of Deathstroke: The Terminator.

Agent X/Deadpool - The Merc with a Mouth! Once again, UDON proves how much they rock, & with writer Gail Simone's unique sense of humor, it only got better. My only gripe is that Gail doesn't seem to respect Tasmaster all that much, but at least he's in "any" series right now, instead of not being anywhere.

Thunderbolts - This series WAS excellent until Marvel decided to turn it into a steaming mound of crap...

Anything with Thanos in it, as he is my favorite character ever!

    DC Comics

Batman - With the amazing Jim Lee currently doing the art for this book, it has been selling like hotcakes. That is good & bad, since it makes it hard to find copies. =(

Birds of Prey - Now with Gail Simone taking over as writer, & with the sexy Black Canary given a new costume, this series is an excellent read.

I'll admit, i don't read as much DC as i do Marvel, but i am hoping to change that soon. Basically, anything with the current Batgirl, (the best martial artist in the DCU currently) Martian Manhunter, Darkseid or Captain "Shazam" Marvel in it i will try to pick up. (Oh, & i seriously don't like Superman.. I love seeing Captain Marvel clean the Blue Boy Scout's clock)

Crossgen is a relative rookie as far as the comic scene goes, but they have some of the best stories & art around right now. Great titles include: Sojourn, Solus, The Path & The First. Once i get mo money, i'm gonna buy all their books.

Chinese comics... I LOVE Chinese Comics! Freaking incredible art, storylines focusing on Martial Arts & awesome displays of Ki. Great stuff!

Blood Sword Dynasty - Great book following the exploits of Hero & Ghost Servant. Was also turned into a kickass movie titled "A Man Called Hero"

Storm Riders - Another good one that was made into a movie. Titled "Storm Riders," obviously

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Yes, the very same as the movie. Based off the original Chinese novels, only thing is that the comics start from the beginning of the books, whereas the movie was really based on book 4 or 5 in a series of 6, I believe. Currently only up to comic 4, so it'll be easy to jump into the series right now.

Well, i've rambled enough. Anybody else enjoy comics as much as I do? Let's hear it!

Hmm... I did collect a few issues of X-men not too long ago. I also have a large collection of the Sonic the Hedgehog comics, published by Archie. ^^

Big X-MEN fan here, I'm upto about 200 UXM and X-MEN books, and I agree I don't like the direction the titles went when the first movie came out. Just means now I can concentrate on filling in the gaps in my collection.

That's a sick pic of Cable & Bishop Zaladane! Here's one of my fav Thanos pics, drawn by the only artist to do Thanos justice, Ron Lim.

I like Ron Lim's style for the most part. His run on the Silver Surfer was good, as was his Infinity Gauntlet stuff. As for my favorite artist? Well, it's hard to choose, but I was really into Joe Maduriera for awhile, as well as Art Adams. Now I really tend to gravitate more towards stories then artists. I'm really into The Ultimates right now, as well as Ultimate Spiderman. Both are very well written books, and very smart re-tellings of the characters. I'm also into Grant Morrisons X-Men stuff as well. He's done alot to move superhero books forward, and beyond that "spandex" and "villian of the week" mentatily. His stuff is intruiging, and only thing that keeps me away is lack of funds.

Maduriera is an awesome artist. I love his anime-ish style. Adams has always been one of my favorites. My favorite Spidey artist is easily Mark Bagley. Other faves include George Perez, UDON, Pat Lee & many others which i can't remember right now.

Pat Lee is a bit overrated in my opinion. His Darkminds stuff was good, but not as great as everyone made it out to be. I like his style, but he's not a favorite. I'm looking forward to seeing what George Perez does with JLA/Avengers when it's finally released. This is one I've been waiting for forever, and I'm sure it'll live up to his usual high mark of quality. As for Bagley, his stuff on Ultimate Spiderman is great. Some of the best work he's done. However, his art tends to be a bit inconsistant at times, but overall he's top notch. I'm also a fan of Travis Charest, but he rarely ever does anything these days, due to his inability to turn out monthly work on time. But still, when he does get stuff out it's always great. Yeah, I'm a comics fan through and through, though I'd imagine there's some people here who's fanatacism would definately overshadow mine.

I will say that I disagree on just about every point you brought up about Marvel. Thier comics are the best they've been in some time, and they are willing to take chances and attract some A class talent. The Ultimate line is a refreshing change from titles of past, and X-Men line is the best it's been since Claremont's run back in the olden days. I like Marvel's new direction, and I'm very happy that they've abandoned the stale styles of the past. Comics are the best they've been in years, and I feel Marvel is right up there along with the rest.

I enjoy reading random Starwars comics.
    Simply because Starwars is great.

I used to be quite a big comic book fan, but lost intrest as time went on but I am very much lately feeling like getting back to the old comic books. Just wish they had better sites with electronic comic books on them.
