That's not how password exposure works.

In order for the scenario you suggested to occur, a unnamed security company would have to have an active ongoing hack on EP, for the purpose of monitoring our userbase and sending you this email the instant they see you signup.

The most likely scenario is that you received coincidentally timed random spam, from a company claiming to offer security. But said spam company intends to hack you when you click some shit in their spam.

Regardless of what has/hasn't happened, stop using the same password on the every site on the internet. If you have to change all your passwords, good. You should have done so years ago with unique passwords on every site. You shouldn't expect every website on the internet to take care of your password, all the major players have leaked billions of passwords, nearly every site has had some hack event at this point.

Edit: Plug your email address into this site:
    https://haveibeenpwned.com/

Those guys have harvested the wide breaches and put up a searchable database so you can see some of the sites that may have leaked your info. Plugging in my addresses, I see my 2 spambox's have been leaked 15 *known* times...

*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

I think this is one of the most common problems. For some reason, many people are lazy to specify a unique password for each site!
