    Default Ff7/8 Pc

    Is there any way to play them without the CD's? I've got them loaded into my laptop, but the CD-ROM is so loud it just drones out the sound, and gets quite irritating.

    You need a no-cd you can find them at www.megagames.com

    read the readme files that come with the no-cd

    Other than superior graphics, and different sounding sound, they're identical. FF8 even has two save slots, lol. FF8 does have the advantage of having that Chocobo game, the one that went on the Pocketstation on the PS1 version, come with it.

    Unfortunately, none of those CD cracks work .

    Oh well.

    And differences between PC version and PSX version:

    FF7:
    Supports 640x480 Resolution, allowing clearer polygonal characters and rendered backgrounds.
    Music is inferior to PSX version, using a crappy synthesized MIDI version of the soundtrack. One Winged Angel sounds sooo much better with the full orchestra and vocals...

    FF8:
    Once again, rendered characters are higher resolution and sharper. Hand-drawn backgrounds seem a tad fuzzier, though.
    Once again, there is a difference in music, although not as glaring this time around. Most of the songs sound very similar, if not exactly the same. I actually prefer the PC soundtrack a bit better, because alot of the beats don't sound quite as hard, forced, and tinny for some of the songs like in the PSX version. Luckily, Liberi Fatali and Eyes on Me are streamed audio, so we don't have to suffer with a crappy sythesized version.
    And yes, the PC version has a working version of Chocobo World. The setup is kind of awkward (go into your save menu, go to Chocobo World, select send or away or something - it's been awhile -, then save your game, and quit FF8. Open up the Chocobo World executable. Make sure all other save files have their Chocobo set to "home", or else you just deleted all their data.) But it works. And even better, because they added some midi from FF7 (First part of the victory theme, and the "Hurry Faster!" song, the one used in the Battledome, for the battle theme, as well as a unique, although somewhat generic, Chocobo theme for the overworld).

    They do work but you have to read all the .nfo and .txt files because there are files you have to copy to your HD.

    Umm, which one did you use for FF7? The Cat-FF7 one doesn't come with any documentation, and LXTMLTPT has a German .txt file and a .nfo file that won't open, says it's corrupted or something.

    Is it possible that you could post the instructions for both of the NOCD cracks? Because for whatever reason, my computer won't read the .nfo files, says they're an invalid version or something, and I have no clue what to do.

    You can also just make isos out of the cd's, and just keep them on the hd, and load them using Daemon Tools or Nero Imagedrive or the like...
    Much easier and you won't have to mess around with those nocd cracks either

    Zuljin idea is good because to you use the cracks you have to copy the files from the CD anyway

    ff7:Final Fantasy VII v1.00-1.02 FULL CRACKS
    3/7/00

    I made these cracks last year, and forgot to submit them
    to a crack site. I was tired of looking for cracks for each
    version of this game, and if u have a Riva card, i bet u r
    very pissed, since the v1.01 patch does not fix the graphic
    bugs, and the cd patch that's around isn't working at all.

    So i downloaded every patch i could find, and started to compare
    and fix the errors other patchers have done. And here it is,--
    full patches for every version, which work 100%,

    Included is a reg file if your registry is somehow messed up, and
    also if u do'nt have the space for the movies, u can just extract
    "fix.avi" and fix_avi.bat into your FF7 dir. Run it, and it will
    create blank video files. There is a bug in this somewhat, the
    warez version going around, makes blank videos, but u have to
    sit there for over 60 sec, because of some timed shit, this one
    is only like 5 sec i believe or 10 seconds, u might miss like a sec
    of animation of the game, but it doesn't really matter, just to let
    u know that, i went through the whole game fine, Have fun everyone!

    ff8:Final Fantasy VIII NO-CD CRACK (FBSA)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    CRACKED/MAKE CRACK by FBSA (55 min.)
    How to play:
    install the game, copy FIELD.FI and FIELD.FL
    file to your game dir, where FF8.EXE is.
    COPY from MOVIE CDs: DISC1.PAK or DISC2.PAK
    or DISC3.PAK or DISC4.PAK files and the recog-
    nizer DISK1 or DISK2 or DISK3 or DISK4 files too.
    (what you needed to play, just delete the OTHER
    .PAK file if not needed, IF YOU HAVE 1,8 Gigs
    HD-space, just copy the four *.PAK files from
    CD#02-05 to your game directory).
    Crack with FF8NOCD.EXE.
    Start FF8CONFIG.EXE to set gfx/sound/controller,
    then play with running the cracked FF8.EXE.
    Notes: I think this game is UN-RIPPABLE !!
    I thought to RE-WRITE the DISC1.PAK file,
    but I don't know, how works the file-location
    table for playing the .BIK files.
    Shit and sorry...
    One last thing: where is it that I extract the FF7 movies to? They're currently in the data folder, in a folder named "Movies", but apparently the game doesn't read them from there.
    Try putting them with all the other files outside the folder or use the fix.avi file.
