Default Multiple N64 Controllers Through 1 USB Port

My computer only has 2 usb ports but I would like to run 4 controllers. Has anyone done this?

I bought controllers with usb ends off of amazon and they work great, can I get a usb splitter and run 2 through each port?

I have also seen an adapter to run the original N64 controllers through a usb port, has anyone used one of those?

I am running OpenEmu through a Macbook Pro running Catalina. Any help would be appreciated, I am new to this.

    Thanks,

Run a powered USB hub (has it's own power supply) through one port on your pc.
Don't know about Mac but can't see why it should be any different as long as USB ports are there.

Why powered? Each USB typically only provides maximum 500mA power (but in many cases less than that), if you're running an unpowered hub then multiples of some devices might not function properly.

    eg
Controllers that have rumble and/or memory packs.
Hard drives require power if they are only USB powered.

I could go on but hopefully you get the idea.

    No problem.
Always good to use a hub with a laptop anyway, plug it in and always use those extra ports...saves on wear and tear for the onboard ports.
A lot of people replace their laptops quickly enough that port issues are never a problem anyway but some like myself like to squeeze extra life out of older hardware.

I've got an ancient iBook G4 that is still 100% working but I haven't been using it much, more of a novelty really like the eMac G4 I have
