Because they're dead consoles.
PS3 games aren't even supported on PS5 with it's BC.
Maybe there might still be Vita physical releases but Wii still got some physicals way after support was removed.
Both ninty and sony don't really give a shit about old consoles now, for the games they prefer to release them again and make more money

I'm more interested in knowing if they're shutting down the servers completely or just the storefront .

They probably will shut down servers soonish. But it will be a case by case basis depending on the game.
No point keeping servers running when there isn't any official support.

Modders can always help setup custom servers if the fanbase really wants it anyway.
I wouldn't be too concerned about it, unless you're completely against modding PS3/Vita.

Well, maybe there's reason for concern if they shutdown servers and then announced "remastered" versions on PS5 with new servers

They don't always make money from PS3 online because people use servers for free.
I don't know about Vita but that has been dead here for years already, stores haven't stocked those games for ages now. PS3 store stocks only stopped in the last 12 months or so (EB was the last with preowned iirc but they removed vita before that).

For me it's possibly a good thing. Decent chance I could see the odd vita at work and should be way more PS3 consoles coming through

Got a fair bit of stuff to do tomorrow including hunting around for a large ext hdd for all this shit I'm dl'ing atm. Hopefully should find something locally (like 8TB) for much cheaper than ebay.

I just got a 8TB myself, and I transferred over the contents of FIVE of my 2TB drives. And there's still open space, and I can fucking sort this shit now that everything's on the same drive. PS3 games are what made a mess of my previously tidy sorting methods, I was just pushing backups of them wherever.
