Not one that I would have to play for a while to see a possible issue (is Croc Legend of the Gobbos like that? I can't remember).
    Legend of Dragoon.

^ Couldn't get these to boot as retail after patching to masterdisc (CD-R and DVD-R respectively).

So, I inserted my FMCB v1.966 memory card again and left disc lid open.
Selected launch disc from FMCB menu (with lid still open), you get black screen but wait for a second.
Then close lid and both of the above discs boot.

Another thing to remember is that if you do this mod to a US 750xx or above slim all you're doing is changing it to DEV.
With me, I've changed a retail PAL console to US DEV, so the 60Hz timing is just slightly off. Not terribly off like with other consoles like modded PS1 though... think it's like less than 1Hz off but maybe I'm wrong.

Running US/JPN PS2 discs my console goes a little crazy, changing between PAL and NTSC outputs bringing up some load screens and cutscenes
TV flashes a brief blue screen now and then but this doesn't interfere with gameplay at all.

You might see a similar thing if you try running PAL games on a US console I guess, assuming your TV is multi region capable anyway (all mine are, even my crt's).

Looking at some Legend of Dragoon downloads right now.
I can see "bug fix" version and another one that probably doesn't have that. I guess use the non-bug fix?
    The non-bug fix is Redump.

I'll be busy tomorrow and Saturday so might take me a few days to get around to testing PS1 CP anyway.
Also need to spend at least a day cutting up some more wood

Without any info on what the bug fixes are that seems like the best bet.

Maybe Dino Crisis? IIRC it detected modchips and locked shit. It's only one disc unlike LoD.

Edit: Or here's an old fix site, pick out anything that would have protection fixes:

*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

Looking at that list it seems RE3 has protection too. Although it does state most US games are mod protected (that would be anti-modchip iirc).

    So

    Spoiler warning:

Got a pink PS2 slim 77002 with matching controller and MC (also PSU but that's just the standard black).
After getting home, having dinner and doing some other stuff I decided to hook it up with the intention of using mechapwn to change it to US DEV.
When it starts up I'm greeted with Matrix v1.93 boot screen I'm guessing it's probably a Modbo 750 and not a legit Matrix chip though (most chipped PS2's here have the cheaper modbo variants).

    I'll leave it as is

Still need to pull my PS2 console box out of storage to see what model slims I already have.

I walked into a thrift store, spotted a 77xxx and thought of this mod. But, no power supply, no controller, just the system and av cable for $60 +tax. *sigh*
