I would've taken all of those at once if I lived over there.
Have you got intellivision and colecovision?
shipping would still have been pricey. it cost nearly $30 just to ship the atari and oddessey to new jersey it was $10 for the gameboys.
no the oldest I still have is a gen 1 oddessey 2.

Yeah US shipping even domestic is rubbish now.
We can send original Xbox consoles (over 3kg) from one side of Australia to the other for like $15aud or something, which is less than $15usd and this isn't a small country.

You could read something but there are plenty of youtube videos that would be helpful

it really is and it's not just usps it's ups and fedex too. it would have cost $75-$80 if I used fedex. you'd think it'd be cheaper to ship something non-commercially but it seems to be the opposite.

Well there are some ok tutorial vids on there.

Some general tips are to use plenty of flux, if desoldering on the cheap use braid and with old solder on boards you might need to add new solder to it before trying to desolder.
Watch that you don't lift traces.
Check for dry solder joints and reflow.

Mostly it takes practice. As I said 2600 units are easy to work on, so if you practice on junk first for a time you should be able to become confident enough to fix that woody

Cleaning up flux afterwards; you won't need to worry about that while you're practising. But I use isopropyl alcohol and cotton tips (they're called IPA and qtips respectively there iirc).

rubbing alcohol and q-tips have been a staple for me for years I use that shit all the time to clean old carts and controllers.

You mean the crappy solder sucker plunger type or do you mean electric pumps?

Solder suckers can work on a flat surface.
An electric pump would be good, but I haven't spent a lot of money on a desoldering station or anything like that.
I haven't done any difficult stuff for ages.

The cheap plunger ones. I presume an actual desoldering station is good but they're expensive.

If it isn't a flat surface they don't work very well. Tip melts as well, even though the main body might be metal.
I do have at least one but braid/wick works well up against components.
