    My state is enforcing mask use starting this Monday.
    We've had some small clusters (aged care and meat works sites) that've evolved into greater community transmission so it's justified imo.
    I think my state is up to just over 100 deaths now and that's from the very start of this until now, so it's not completely out of control yet, hopefully things will get better soon with less cases and deaths though.

    I think the main issue is people testing positive then not isolating (going out for groceries and even some cases of people going to work...ffs). They think because they aren't sick they can do whatever but I'd go as far to say that they're sociopaths.

    There are plenty of people not actually tested positive doing the wrong thing too. Go get a test, do shopping before or after because they're out anyway...they shouldn't be doing anything until getting test results.
    Young people having parties and generally not maintaining social distancing. It's extremely rare to see a young person wearing a mask locally, the majority that have used masks are middle age or older.

    To give you an idea of what's going on atm, here are some numbers:

    Australia totals as of yesterday (Friday 31st July):
    Confirmed cases= 16,905
    Deaths= 196

    Victoria (my state) totals of yesterday:
    Confirmed cases= 10,577
    Deaths= 112

    Now while the population of my state is large by Australian standards, there are an excessive amount of cases and deaths here compared to national totals.
    Total national population is probably around 26 million.
    My state is 2nd largest at over 6 million.

    Australia fortunately is just as sparse as we are if not more so.

    Thank god I can work freely since I'm simply the janitor of my building (and the one next door) all the cleaning products I use might just be a good deterrent. We've had 195 in my province.

    Yeah Australia and Canada are good comparisons for many things although obviously not exactly the same.
    Both commonwealth, you deal with more extreme cold and we deal with longer extreme heat. We both have large unpopulated areas.

    For all of Canada though it's almost 9000

    You're pretty damn remote even compared to us, has a pretty damn big impact on halting things population wise.

    Our unpopulated areas are probably equal to the size of your country

    Of course you don't have Americans sneaking into your country through Alaska

    And they have the gall to complain about Mexicans

    I doubt it.
    Your total size is around 2.3 million sg km more than ours.
    It's 9976140 vs 7686850.

    Our population is less than yours so our population density is slightly less. Most of our population live in the big cities and we probably have less of those cities than you do.

    If you want to be really amazed look at the case numbers and deaths for New Zealand (Australia's little brother).

    NZ only has just over 5 million people, but that's very close to the population of my state and their numbers are really fucking low.

    Wouldn't it be easier to detonate nukes liberally?

    That might affect Canada and Mexico, and we'll sue for damages.
