I'm still a little shocked this is happening.
    What's next?
    M$ buys Take-Two Interactive?

I know there are restrictions for consoles, but only Sony has truly crippling restrictions which is their policy not Beth's.

You can add mods to Skyrim on a modded Switch afaik. It is rather surprising that MS would buy out Bethesda, is Rockstar next?

That's why I mentioned Take-Two Interactive. They own Rockstar and 2K afaik.

There was a rumour that Sony was going to buy Take-Two Interactive, but in reality M$ is obviously more capable of buying them.
They paid like 7.5b for ZeniMax.

Yes, and if Rockstar joins forces with Bethesda gamers will get the games of their wet dreams.

As for monetising mods, I think a more sensible approach would be to pay small amounts or even offer crediting to modders for mods to be ported to consoles.
Not actually monetising, but increasing value to games.

Like what I said about Morrowind.
Why waste a heap of time building something from scratch if you can throw some dollars around to use something already available as a base for a release?
You might have to do some tweaking/patches and obviously testing but it should actually be cheaper and faster.

Of course this is all irrelevant to PC, except that some modders simply refuse to port mods or even give permission.

But even is something like that happened you'd probably have Sony saying "hell no, we don't want those game mods because of security issues give us a bland version"

It may seem I'm hating on Sony atm, but I think it's justified as I've bought and played Skyrim SE/Fallout 4 on both PS4 and Xbox One.
The PS4 versions have pathetic mod options.

The modding should be open source with official tools and with official DLC mods, especially unofficial patches without which the games could be rendered unplayable bug and glitchfests.

    Consoles have no tools though.
The mods can be ported but as I said some modders refuse to do it or even give permission.
What I said was mainly about encouraging mods to be ported.
Sony discourages a lot mods being ported.
The Xbox platform only really has size limitations (and also total mods) linked to game stability. Maybe that will change next gen idk.

You're absolutely correct, I have faith that MS will continue know what it's doing gaming-wise now if only it knew what the hell it's doing with its OS.

It was very neat to see, not gonna lie. My Grandmother received the flag that covered his casket as well. And my Dad is currently working on getting a case built for it. (He's a woodworker, he's always wanted to make something like that). And he's going to get a plaque for the case too.

Still waiting to hear back on how much engraving the casing will cost but I got it ready to become a necklace. I'm really happy with it.
