I got smart ftp and it tells me the login is incorrect...i know im putting everything in right. Im NOT in passive mode and IM not logging in as an anonymous user. I try either Kaillera or Soldat as usernames, and i try rocktehep as the password, and i get nothing. Im NOT behind a router. And i doubt my firewall is to blame, if it were i couldnt connect at all. i can log in as an anonymous user...but not under the other two i mentioned earlier...whats the deal? any help is appreciated!

I wonder if anyone knows the name of the ftp client that can be transported by floppy or cd onto other computers like the library to use because the library doesn't allow me to download an ftp client for them and use so if i can run it off disk, i won't need to install any clients on their computer.
The client is supposed to be bootable without installation but i have no idea what it's name is because i've forgotten. I know it exists because i've seen the download link for it whilst searching for ftp clients before.

    Opera:
    FTP Error: Connection refused.

    LeechFTP:
    ! Socket Error: No connection

    Internet Explorer:
    FTP Error: Connection refused

So it seems that your ftp is refusing to allow connections.
    Have you seen me before?

I've got a problem. I set up an FTP using GuildFTP, and it works perfectly fine, until the wireless router we have for my roommate's internet is connected. If I run my connection straight from the modem to my computer, the ftp works. I can't figure out how to get it to work properly when the connection runs through the router. Any advice, suggestions, help?

Much appreciated. This thing is giving me a headache because I can't figure it out.

This is more of a question then a problem... I have pavs mode turned on, in my FTP server, could this cause problmes for others when they try to connect.

It shouldn't however they will probably need to connect via passive mode themselves. Get a mate to test it out in passive and active to see if your firewall blocks certain attempts.

That would probably be the isp of the user trying to connect. Either that or it's an ftp bot scouring the net. By the way you can fake hostmasks.

ok, im having a real tough time with this FTP im trying to set up. I have followed everything to the letter with the tutorials on this site. I am using GuildFTPd and I am behind a linksys router. I have port 21 forwarded to this computer. Everything is exactly the way its supposed to be. When I try to connect to the FTP, using either SmartFTP or IE, GuildFTP crashes. "GuildFTP deamon has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have tried using DNS4me and Serve-U as well, they crash too when I try to connect. I assume it's probably a problem with my router, but everything is EXACTLY the way its supposed to be (Ive checked it like 15 times now) anyone else have a problem like this? If so, please help, I would love to get this site up.
    Need something good....
