I don't know if there is a FAQ on EP about this , but I want to setup a FTP server(the last time I did that was 2 years ago so I kinda forgot how I did it) I still know that I used Serv-U and I was wondering if someone can explain how I must set it up with that program again.

    thnx in advance

Try GuildFTPd, it works really well.

In the help file, it tells you how to set GuildFTPd up.

Im using bulletproof FTP server, my FTP was working up until 5 minutes ago, when i try and make it go online i get the following message:

20/01/2004 21:42:19 SERVER: Unable to start server, port 21 may already be in use.

i tried changing the port to like... 22 and 23, and some others but since i know nothing about PC's really, that was just guess work, and it didnt work... anyone help?

I am clueless about port opening and all that junk. All i know is, I want an ftp, I have an ftp set up (bulletproof), I "think" I know how to operate bullet, I have multiple accounts set up. I have a d-link rounter. No software included except printer routing software. I have a modemn. If i connect my modemn to my comp, direct, my ftp worx. If i connect through router, it doesn't, but if i try it on my other computer that is connected to the router too, it worx. But no1 outside can reach. I forget my ip, lol. Is there a site that I can find it? Ip monster is expired. And the final question, how do I open ports or w/e i need to do, to make my ftp work, with the router? Thank you

Clients connect to a server to download stuff. The client then sends commands to the server and the server responds.
