Default Best way to sofmod a 5.5.3 Wii U?

So I have just bought a Wii U 5.5.3 and I want to softmod it as soon as I can. I know there is plenty of information about it, and this is a problem: too much information.

I have read there is a way to softmod it by purchasing a NDS game, but there is another method which does not require such purchase. I don't mind buying that game of course, but it's just I don't know if any of those methods have any advantage and if the format of the downloaded games will differ...

Any thoughts about which is the best and more reliable method to softmod a Wii U nowadays?

    Thanks in avance, guys.

I'm wanting to hack my Wii U as well, I just haven't got around to it yet. When I do, I will use the install NDS game method, it seems to be more reliable. Anyway, have a read through this guide, it should cover everything.

Glad you managed to work it out.

I don't want to mod my Wind Waker Wii U, so I've just bought a 2nd hand 32Gb Wii U (console only) from ebay. I still haven't got around to modding it, but I will at some point.

    Double post...

Just CBHC modded the ebay Wii U. Gonna mod the vWii next so I can play Gamecube games on the pad.

Edit: Dumping my own Wii U games so I have them all easily available.

Edit 2: Hacked the vWii and added a Gamecube forwarder to the Wii U home screen so I don't have to boot the vWii when i want to play Gamecube games. Only tried Luigi's Mansion so far, but it works on the Wii U pad.

Nice! I have not modded the vWII yet. Can you recommend me any method? Do you know if I could use my Wii HDD directly into my WII U to play WII and Gamecube games?

The guide for the vWii is on the same site as the Wii U guide. If you dump your vWii NAND, it took me nearly an hour, but it was only a class 4 SD card so it should be quicker if you use a better one.

I haven't tried my Wii HDD, so I don't know. You can just put your Gamecube games on a 32GB SD card and they work fine. From what I've read (I'm still learning) you have to use apps for the vWii and not the original Wii.

Dudes, I know the info must be out there but I have just no too much time to find it... Do I need to hack vWII to install Nintendont? I just don't need to play Wii via WiiU, just would like to try some Gamecube games in the gamepad. Do you if this is possible?

As far as I know, yes you do have to hack the vWii in order to play Gamecube games. The most time is spent making a backup of the NAND. If you don't bother backing up the NAND, then the whole process doesn't take long.

Have a look at this page. there is an app that allows you to inject Wii or Gamecube games and install them to the Wii U. I'd install to an external HDD in case of problems. If I understand this correctly, you wont need to mod the vWii as the injected games will work through the Wii U.
