apparently even though x-box had a great ad campaign and a better system and launch games, gamecube has sold all 700,000 of its launch systems. this despite its kiddie games like luigis mansion, which by the way is crap

Who cares? People are gonna buy what appeals to them, and it just so happens that Nintendos system was the more appealing of the two at the time. Personally I think Microsoft is going to have a battle on their hands, as they are newcomers to the biz. This is their first console, and I fear it may turn out to be the next Dreamcast. In my opinion, I dont think Microsoft has any games out that are worth buying, and I dont see anything forthcoming. Maybe that'll change in the future, but thats the way I see it now. However, Nintendo has a few games I'm interested in picking up now, with quite a number more that I'll check out in the future. Nintendo has been around for 16 years, they know what they are doing. And as far as advertising goes, I think they both had pretty crappy commercials. Pointless drivel, in my opinion. And as for what system I'm going to buy...hmn. First the Cube, followed by a PS2, then maybe and X-Box sometime after. See, I dont see the need to bash other systems. Does Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo pay you to kiss thier ass? No, plain and simple. There is no need for system wars. Just buy and play what interests you and let everyone else enjoy what makes them happy.

2) the Game Cube does not have kiddie games. Anyway you should see some of the games that they do have, games like THPS3 and Rogue Squadron 2, they look great! Like cyberxion said, people buy what appeals to them.

Aiden my man, I didnt say there WAS anything wrong with the Dreamcast. Its just that I think what happened with the DC is gonna happen with the X-Box. I personally really enjoy my DC, but even still the fact remains that not alot of people bought into it. I can definatly see that happening with the X-Box. I'll buy one, but in the end will enough people do the same? Only time, and sales, will tell...

i cant help but think some of you know nothing about the new systems.dreamcast failed because of its sega dominated game lineup. microsoft at least is employing many different developers.plus gamecubes games are rehashes and sequels,just better looking than before. they still suck. <IMG SRC="smilies/mad3.gif" border="0">

I agree with all of you. Everyone makes a good point. Like Vengeance said, its a well known fact that Nintendo markets for the younger generation, but the Gamecube will have some realistic new titles like the Resident Evil series. The trailor looks amazing for RE:1. I dont think this will turn into another Saturn or Dreamcast, however, because X-box is being fueled by the biggest company in the world. Not to mention Microsoft has all of the big game developers creating titles for them. Gamecube, by the way, is not re-hashing some of Nintendos more popular titles. Like Banjo Kazooie, F-Zero X, and Perfect Dark.
