A lot of people still call them service stations, but there isn't any service

Unless you count the service being provided as paying 3 times as much for a gatorade or bag of chips etc..

Most are pretty terrible now. You go in to pay and there's a kid (well, to me anyway) sitting there using his/her phone in one hand. They always make you feel like you're interrupting something important (probably twitter, facebook or some shit).

I got fatigued within 2 hours of Borderlands 1.

I'll hold the door open for anyone if I notice tbh, though I always make sure with the elderly.

Yeah old people love it because they hardly see it now.

I live in a small rural area so lots of older people. And since I basically require a PO box I am at the PO pretty frequently to pick stuff up. I end up holding doors there a lot and they love chatting with me as well.

Life is too short to not be nice.

I live in a small country town but don't need a PO box, the local PO provides postal storage for free because we don't have a postman

Actually, I was in there last week and a fridge was delivered by post. Not a small fridge either one of those big French door jobs.
Had to stay out on the shop floor (the PO is also a newsagency and general store).

PO Boxes can be handy. If I get something from Play-Asia, its usually through FedEx, though.

My driveway is so long I can't see my mailbox and I had been having mail stolen so I pretty much had to.

The PO would have to be robbed and cleaned out for my mail to get stolen
