It's very large. Bioware took forever to make it so there is a ridiculous amount of quests and possible choice outcomes. This is easily its best quality and why I keep wanting to replay it, but then check out after I remember the level design is horsecrap (HOPE YOU LIKE GIANT FUCK YOU FIREBALLS KNOCKING YOU DOWN WHEN YOU GET NEAR DOORS OR GATES)

You can mitigate this by playing on easy, though, and you can switch difficulty on the fly.

Also, pick mage. Warriors get nothing to do, and while there is fun to be had as a thief, mages get such a ridiculous amount of options and ways to manipulate the battlefield that they basically break apart a lot of the difficulty.

That game has some clunk (using any gun besides pistol of assault rifle is effectively pointless), but there's so much replay value. Has a solid 20-30 hour campaign, and a ton of things can change in ways I didn't even think were possible in video games outside VNs.

It was an Obsidian game, and most everything they make is extremely impressive when it comes to choice (see Fallout NV, Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny).

I remember the first time I played DAO I let it sit on the main menu for quite some time just listening to the music

My brother doesn't like RPGs at all, he's a GTA man. He saw me playing DAO many years ago, and he randomly picked it up for $2 from EB Games like a year ago. He's now played through it like 3-4 times... Probably spent less than a penny an hour!

It's worth playing the game just for Oghren alone.

There are people who don't like Oghren and they are wrong.

Shame Origins was the only good Dragon Age game ever made or ever will be made (guess which in development project at Bioware just lost the project lead for a second time).

I wonder if the fear games were inspired by the ring.

I miss DAO. I would for sure buy a rerelease of that.

I'd be surprised if it was remastered.
Only better options are PC version or 360 version via Xbone (but it isn't X enhanced afaik).

I'm not sure what the story is with PS5 BC, but I'm guessing it will be last gen BC and not digging into the libraries of older platforms.

Honestly? I'm betting we're not going to see Bioware games get rereleases anytime soon because the entire company is imploding.

Anthem's development was so poorly managed that it sank entire projects (the DA4 that was being made now before the project lead left was completely different from the the being worked on before that (in which that project lead also left)). Mass Effect Andromeda's shortcomings were a similar story, where the team started out wasting time on a concept that went nowhere (mass generated planets) and all of the narrative and polishing had to be rushed when things finally got on track.

Part of the issue is that the main office got a huge ego on itself, leading to nonsense like ignoring Bioware Austin, the only Bioware studio with experience with MMOs (they made The Old Republic), on how to handle MMO elements in Anthem. That's not even getting into the discovery of how normalized crunch was.

The company has bled pretty much all of its talent that made its other games so good. All we have left at this point is Casey Hudson, the guy who wrote Mass Effect 3, the weakest written game in the trilogy, and even he left for awhile before coming back because he wanted to finish Anthem.

Become a Blood Mage, win the game.

Even the cheapest blinds can be adjusted. I once fully disassembled a set to custom cut the slats to an odd size. But yeah, it's worth spending an extra $5 to not have to fuck around.
