I wa looking at some screenshots on gamefaqs but they were mostly of menus no actual gameplay. sounds more action than survival/horror.

Most modern survival horror games do have a lot of action. Dead Island does have some guns but ammo is limited...well, unless you pick up a "hacked" gun someone (with CFW) drops for you online and then save your game so you can keep it. If you play legit then you'll be using melee weapons as much as you can to conserve ammo. There's a crafting system, including weapons mods. Melee weapons degrade.

I've noticed that but most that I listed just have that look(dark and gritty)

so after waiting all day for my package I check the tracking number delivered at 11:28am I've checked the box 4 times today since 1pm nothing in the box yay I get to wait another day for it to get here,

If you were to compare it to another game I would say action wise it's closer to Left4Dead.

It might be from a GOTY or DLC that I got an arena are in Dead Island. You can get there from any fast travel map, and they sell ammo. Generally Infected are the only ones that run, aside from the Ram's charging attack.

Action-wise, not really anywhere close to Left 4 Dead, you're not going to get mobbed by dozens of enemies if you set off a car alarm. I would say in some ways it's a lot closer to Borderlands, with picking up fallen comrades. But more enemies. Each type have their own tricks and tactics to defeat them, and there is a special controller-only combat style where you use your analog sticks to swing your weapon that can allow for more reliable decapitation or dismemberment. Weapon mods, collectibles to create special unique weapons, tons of quests and side-quests, exploration(recently found out about a village after having played through multiple times), so it plays like a gory first-person action-RPG.

You don't really find guns as loot at all in the first act, but there are a couple pistols laying around if you explore enough. Other than that, all melee or throwing weapons. I say learn to kick and head stomp ASAP. Pretty satisfying to watch them pop.

sitting here playing star wars fighting vader everything's going fine then he jumps to another platform gets stuck in it I try getting him out nothings working then I can't move or even pause the game only the home button works.
sigh guess I restart the game see how much progress I lost hopefully I'll start just before fighting vader.
