Think that's because of the play anywhere thingum. Looking up the minimum specs for it it's listed as win 7 64 bit.

Saw one of these on CL in a nearby town, what do you guys think? Will this work w my comp? For reference, if 480 is the resolution, that is what I've got, a 640x480 monitor. It is 43", but it can only do fullscreen stretch, it isn't natively 16:9. I know this because scanlines in emus never look right at anything except for a vertical resolution of 480 pixels.

Max output resolution is probably more than the card can handle on anything remotely recent. How much did the person want and what are your specs?

    $150.

I have an HP Elite 8000 Convertible Mini Tower.
It has an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @3.16 gHz.
RAM is 4096 mb in 2 ddr-3 chips, installed on two of the 4 available slots.
There is a PCIe x16 GPU slot that is now available.

However, I already looked at the 600w power requirement, which is more than my PSU will do, unless I'm mistaken.

Yeah it looks like the hp elite 8000 is a 320 watt power supply. Try looking for "low profile" cards - they'll go much easier on power (mine is 30w) The card you posted is 250w alone. Also looks like the max resolution is 2560x1600

Also you should post your tv/monitor model and # so we can have a peek because whatever you said a few posts ago sounded uh odd.

    Oh ok. Um...shit

It's a Hitachi 42EDT41A, stamped March 2005. The GPU is returning a native resolution of 640x480, which is the only res that the "Real" Zoom level is selectable on. The other Zoom Modes are "Normal" "Full" "Zoom1" "Zoom2" and "Zoom3."

What I'm saying is that the "Real" mode is the only one which does not produce blurry images, so while it'll function at things like 1280x720 in the VGA Input, I know that every other resolution is just an artificial stretch. If it sounds odd to you, it's because I've studied music for two decades and hate doing computer tech stuff, but love video gaming, so I've...

...Sort of been forced to learn this stuff if I wanted to play games and have them look not like shit? Aheh. Sorry for the confusion. I don't really know the correct terminology. My boss at the systems lab in the College Library where I work-studied hardware tech told me, terminology is important in this stuff.

But I kind of...you know, make up rhyming words to describe my emotional feels and tell my stories? That's kind of my niche...this tech stuff doesn't exactly come naturally to me.

If you get a graphics card as Zal said you'll need a low power one, plus you should really get another monitor.

Ditto on the suggestions from Zal and DL. A GTX 480 would probably kill your PSU if you tried to run anything, even idle might do it.

If the plasma has non-VGA inputs and you have the space I'd keep it around for older consoles.
