Metroid FDS can be had without spending heaps, I noticed a Japanese listing recently that might've been virtually complete and GC.
SMB3 we had that (cart and dust sleeve only) at work a while back and sold it for around $25au iirc

Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic is the full name. Of course, SMB2 is reskinned. I might get a US cart at some point anyway, since it's cheap.

I have the basic version of some games (FO NV, Mafia II and some others) because the extra content was DRM free and possible to inject on retail.

Pretty sure it sold on pension day, so whoever got it probably had 20% taken off by using a pension card (any pension card works, it doesn't need to be aged pension).
Employees don't even verify ID they just check to see if the card is still vaild.
