Hopefully this is something they have corrected. If you have a cheap famiclone type console I'd use it in that. Unlike the everdrive thing which was overblown this actually has data and evidence behind it.

Flash carts have the same capability. But in reality the cart itself is more likely to die than the console.
Yes the old type famicom bootleg carts are very poor quality, afaik none of them had battery save and the early 72 pin carts were just 60 pin sitting on an adapter.
This is a real 72 pin board.

Yeah the ED stuff is bunk lol. Interesting btw, like I said I would think they would improve the quality but it's not like I want to buy any so I wouldn't know.

Clones are plentiful and dirt cheap here, but I know it's a whole different animal in Australia. I could probably get a Retron for under $20 fully complete.

Toploader clone noac (Zoga) with both 72 pin (top) and 60 pin (internal) slots is better value if you're just looking at cheap clones. Even comes with proper NES type controller ports, unlike a lot of the other cheap noac's (subor etc).

Yep, JB didn't have any 500GB versions left only a new shipment of 1TB so I got that. It was meant to come with Rocket League download code but they didn't have any sheets left, so I was given a choice of about six or so games. I picked Gears 4.
Halo 5 & Forza 6 were a 2 for 1 deal. Master Chief Collection was even cheaper.
Traded some PS4 games and brought the total price down to what I expected to pay cash for a 500GB console.
