Actually I can see some GT710 now, but the only ones under $50 are 1GB. I want 2GB which is more than $50 and is passive.
HD6450 is around $40 with 2GB DDR3 and fan. I can't see anything else 2GB down there.

Stay away from the Intel ones. What I mean is stay away from the integrated ones unless you have no choice. Anything is going to be better.

What are you trying to run? Or just doing this for fun?
Ok twice now Fallout 3 freezes when you try to leave the vault.
Also kinda funny that it's Fallout 3 that has my first Achievements have popped up
It only has 2x 2GB but as I said it's kingston ram (underclocked), and upgrading to max 2x 4GB just isn't worth the cost involved for this old rig. You can get cheap DDR3 ram but the cheap stuff is AMD only (high density), low density for intel is more expensive and harder to find.
The integrated gpu is intel GMA X4500 not the HD version. So even the HD6450 would be an upgrade I guess but I'm not 100% sure about it
I can see a GT730 4GB DDR5 for $51...

Nothing atm I just thought about getting a card because I'm upgrading the cpu (at $1 cost)...if the upgrade works technically the cpu side will be maxed out for this board.
I've never spent anything on this, I even have a spare mb exact same and a couple of dual core cpus, but the spare ram is 1GB sticks.
Spoiler warning:
Getting that card would be a good idea for that price. Can always use it in something else. Might be overkill for the rest of the pc specs but would be wonderful for running big memory intensive games, as long as your cpu doesn't explode. My integrated gpu is a variation of yours and could run Skyrim at 720p with basically everything else turned off and even draw distances set way down. Getting a 2gb card for me boosted that almost full tilt at 1080.
In the end though you may just want to find a brand new machine on clearance like an I3 small little Dell business class rig or something if your going to start adding up parts
The cpu won't explode man. It's a Xeon...a server cpu.
It's for lga771 but you can mod some of them to run on lga775, they perform better than core 2 quads...which are nearly impossible to find for free (people usually sell them on). It has 12MB L2 cache.
The ram will be fine too as it's higher spec than the bus.
If I get the GT730 4GB DDR5 I guess the mb total ram size and the mb itself will be the bottleneck...can't oc this mb much afaik it has a wall at about 343? or something.
But still, biggest thing I might have to do is a microcode update if the bios doesn't take the Xeon right off the bat.
Spoiler warning:
Do you have a pci slot that can take advantage of that card?
Nah $50 is my limit this is a junker. Spending more money is just taking money away from more consoles and games
I might just not worry about it but I'm doing the cpu upgrade for $1. I'm fine with spending that and a little time to end up with a 3GHz quad with 12MB.
Spoiler warning:
Yeah these mbs have pci express 2.0 x16.
From what I can read both the HD6450 and that GT730 should work but I'm out of touch with any issues beyond the slot specs...I mean would a DDR5 card have a compatibility issue on an old mb like that? idk
I assume HD6450 should work ok though it's DDR3 and older tech overall. Not sure about the GT730 4GB DDR5.

Welp Hitman Absolution looks as good as it always does. The grass is a little shimmery swaying. And other thin stuff. The game has always looked good though. Have the latest one downloading now, just the first couple of missions for free but at least I can see what it looks like. Must be a free thing in anticipation of Hitman 2
I was wondering about the ddr5 aspect myself. And the slot, the card should down to whatever it can use though.
