THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
Well, the Logitech F310 is a good dual-analog wired controller. But if you want the honest truth, my favorite way to control a game is with my keyboard. Using the arrow keys, not letters.
I use a rock candy PS3 controller. Nice and small so it fit's in my hands.
I use the same as most people, 360 controller. No idea if it's the best but it's not bad. I think there's higher quality versions of the xbox one controller available, but probably not worth the extra cash unless you're actually rich.
I am interested in getting a steam controller possibly for the mouse movement functionality when playing lots of PC games, and I'm also fond of the wii controller just for wii games in general, it might be gimmicky but I find it fun so throwing out honorable mention to that.
Honestly I find it shocking that third party controllers haven't been solid competition with "official" brands in the public eye, but it is what it is. I keep thinking something third party must be best but I'm not one to risk my money to find out when there isn't any public consensus on the subject, not even a niche underground consensus etc. With keyboards for example there's "popular" brands like razer and logitech, then there's niche underground shit like ducky, vortex and so on that many people consider far better, but that healthy competition hasn't shown itself controller wise that I'm aware of. It's a shame because theres so much potential for cool shit if these off brands would just make quality products.
I bought a wired XBox360 controller to use for my laptop when I'm playing games on it, and it's been one of the best purchases I've made.

Currently I'm using an Xbox one controller I have used 360 in the past both are great but the one feels more quality/sturdy in construction.
There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity ignorant people can be taught
stupid people need to be shot.
Xbox 360 controller for me, slightly above the Gamecube controller.
My favorite has gotta be the ever so classic GC controller.
I'd also say the 360 controller, it works well for me.
