Default What is your favorite controller?

I'm looking for a good USB controller. In the beginning I bought a handheld PAP Gameta II console. Very nice with 1300 games built in but the D pad became useless after a while. I returned it back to Amazon.

This is when I remembered about the emulators and roms for PC so I came here and did some downloads to stock up on some goodies like nes Zelda and sega Cool Spot. I ordered a ipega wireless USB controller that simulate the Xbox 360 controller. I got the wireless so I can use it with my Android phone. It's the one that I can mount the mobile on it. It's solid and all that. Well built and the reviews were all 5 stars.

Then the D pad became useless and I returned it. What is it with the darn D pads anyway?

I went to Walmart and found a Logitech USB controller and so far it's still working. Knock on wood.

So do you have a controller that stood up to the torture of game playing? Tell me about it.

If you have windows 10 a Playstation 4 controller will work with a lot games.

I got it to work with PS1 Ape Escape which has a unique dual shock setup.

I use a wired 360 controller myself. Hell, I'd call the 360 controller the best damn controller I've ever used.

Just make sure you get a first-party Microsoft controller, though. In my experience, third-party controllers have durability issues.

Yes it is. Just make sure it's wired (not a detachable cable but built straight in to the controller and non removeable) or else you'll need a wireless 360 controller dongle. Unlike the PS3/4 controllers the removeable charge cable for 360 controllers just charges but doesn't send data. A certain Xbox One controller model uses bluetooth though and not their proprietary signal for wireless and their cables include data as well for the wired aspect - it's the same as a charge cable for Android phones and tablets actually (microusb to usb) so that's an option too, just be careful and make sure you find the bluetooth model if going for wireless on PC.

I've been using the same 3rd party (Rock Candy) wired usb 360 controller myself for close to 7 years and it still works. It's just starting to get a little iffy now. The bumpers are wearing out and the face buttons will albeit very rarely won't even register. Still for a 15-20 dollar controller bought 7 years ago it's held up pretty damn good.

Unfortunately a lot of D-pads on a lot of controllers aren't the greatest.

Logitech® Chillstream™. My favorite controller of all times. You press that little button next to the D-pad, and it starts cooling your hands when then get too sweaty. Beats the vibrating function any day.

Yes it will be a wired model. I tried wireless for the Android but I haven't found games without their built in controllers.

Another controller to check out. Thanks.

What I come to find out. Funny that the nes controllers held up, D pad and all. Wonder if there's an USB model of that ...

    Then I found this:

    and was looking at this:

Oh absolutely. There are usb versions of pretty much every controller out there. Just have to watch out for cheaply made chinese products and so on.

    probably all Chinese stuff. sigh

Looks like I'm going to keep the wireless after all. I cancelled the return with Amazon. I'll just get used to the joy pads.

I just ordered the Buffalo controller. Fingers crossed.

Got my iBuffalo controller today. Feels solid and the buttons feel sturdy. Played for a while and it did well.

I guess time will tell but over 2000 reviews with close to 5 stars. I think it'll hold up.

It's still solid and worked quite well. You can put this controller on the list of best controllers. It is styled after SNES controller.

Eh i'll be impressed if its still working well like 1 year down the road(and i don't mean a year of it just sitting around).

You can take an Xbox One wireless controller and plug it in using a standard micro USB cable. They're sturdy and if you get one with a 3.5mm jack you can plug headphones directly into the controller.
