Default Sega CD Model 2 - Plays Audio CD's but not burned games

Recently picked up a "not working" Sega CD model 2. It's the Funai board.

Turns out it was the fuse - I've replaced it and it will now boot into the bios screen.

I can play audio CD's no problem, but I was trying to play EWJ special edition (U) which came with a bin and cue file, so i used Image burn (selected the cue) and burned a copy.

It will load up into the "Sega" screen with Sonic waving at you but then freezes.

One thing I will mention is that the motherboard battery was leaking/corroded so I unsoldered it from the board (currently there is no battery) - Does the Sega CD need that battery to boot games?

    Thanks

    Default

Go ahead and close this, it was the CD branded media, moved over to memorix and it works across the board. Still curious if the CMOS battery is needed though, and I noticed the old one that leaked was labelled as "rechargeable"

    Thanks,
