Honestly if this is going to turn into an expensive exercise I would consider getting a pre 25xx PS3 (very early slim or any fat) and throw CFW on it. It's very easy to do the latest OFW has an exploit.
That can be hooked up to any tv and for PSP stuff you can run iso dumps, PSP for PS3 PSN pkg after unlocking them or even convert some PSP iso to remaster type using some software on PC.

I don't think PS TV is an option because it only has hdmi?

    Spoiler warning:

I only spent $5.50 on the cable so I really haven't spent a whole lot I still have another spare tv that I can check it's just out in the garage .

You can probably find one of the progressive capable Sony CRTs on CL for free. Wiki has a list here. Just keep in mind that you'll need at least one other person to lift the heavier sets unless you're a bodybuilder .

we have jvc which I checked out it's an '06 model with an HDMI port on it as well as component and composite and we have a sony which is in the garage I think that one is an 07 I think they're both 32" so yeah I'd need help to move it that's why I want to check it first if it's not buried.

I did check the jvc out but I wasn't getting any video signal on it with the component I switched through all the video input channels too I don't know if I checked it on interlace mode or not and I didn't mess with the tv's menu either I might mess around with it again later.

when I tried it yes it was but nothing was showing up on the tv screen I know when I tested it on my little tv I would get a scrambles screen when in progressive mode but the psp screen showed up fine in interlaced node so I know the cables isn't messed up.

The internet says it's and SDTV and doesn't have an HDMI port. Odd.

I think I was mistaken I took another look at it and beside what looks to be an hdmi port it says "service" it does have a digital optical out though.

looks like the sony in the garage is blocked in so it's not easy to get to it. I'll try messing with the jvc again later.
also would an component to hdmi converter connected to a laptop hdmi port work like a usb capture card?

Only if the HDMI port is a capture capable input. You'd be better off emulating PSP over that anyway.

took a look at my laptops manual and it says hdmi port supports high-definition digital video connections. I interpret that as capture capable
