    Welp Dark Souls 2 beaten.

    Started NG+

new enemies in the starting zone - killed me right off the bat

Normally there's nothing there and wasn't paying attention. Plowed through to the first boss pretty easily. Imagine it's gonna get tougher later on though.

The only thing I didn't bother with was that massive dragon and that king guy - and the DLC which is crazy hard. I might give NG+ plus a look afterwards actually just to check itt out.

What's involved with the PS2? I have one still and it has the network adapter and a 40gb ide drive in it. Disc drive is still perfect too. There's a few old things I'd love to give a go that I can't run in PCSX2.
An FMCB memory card and you're good to go.

It looks like a super slim, so I don't think it's hackable. Not sure though, I haven't looked into that at all. PS3 games are cheap anyway.
I have an SS as my main PS3, I also have a slim 30xx. Neither are exploitable.

Even with slim 25xx series not all are exploitable, best to go for a 20xx or 21xx if you definitely want a slim. Otherwise if you buy a 25xx you're taking a real risk it will be stuck as retail. I don't know of any way to check 25xx minversion (OFW) before actually buying it.
