    Default thoughts about computer towers(cases)

it's been years since I last built a desktop my only experience has been with metal cases. I was always under the impression that they helped with heat distribution.
so I've been thinking about this for a bit and would like to hear others thoughts on this matter.
what are the pros and cons of metal cases vs plastic cases?

I have always ever had metal tower cases. Never had to take the side off and run a fan even in the dead of summer with no AC. Can't comment on viability of plastic towers, but for laptop cases, not a fan of plastics. Guess I vote or metals either way.

Have you ever felt your case get hot? I never have. I wouldn't think it would make much difference as long as you have enough air flow. Thinking about examples of plastic cases, laptops, consoles, they seem to be prone to heating up because of confined spaces and poor air flow. So if it's a decent sized tower with unobstructed vents I wouldn't think that metal vs. plastic would make a difference.

so the only real difference between the two would be durability?

Plastic smells too. When it's new and if it absorbs other smells.

But yeah metal is way more solid, if you need to cut sections (your own case mods for whatever reason) metal is a little more work, plastic is easier to work with in that situation.

You're all a bunch of non-hipsters. Homemade wooden towers are where it's at~
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

I've actually thought about that before but always had concerns over wood being a fire hazard.

You can get treated wood that is fire resistant. Also paint and spray to use on any sort of wood.

I don't think a wood case would be worth the time unless someone was doing a special build for a case contest.
