Default Whatever happened to movie licensed games?

They seem to have disappeared in recent years. I remember like a decade ago, just about every movie would have a crappy licensed game to go with it. Look at Transformers, Spider-Man 3 (2 is actually really good), and several Disney movies adapted into Wii shovelware.

Unfortunately it's just too much effort to produce new games. People would call them out when they noticed Spider-Man Homecoming was actually Spider-Man 3 Remastered HD. The stories are just too different.
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

A larger problem is the increasingly unstable production of these films and the increasing time tables for making these games good. Games cost more to make on the whole, and movie games tend to have rushed schedules because of constant changes in movie plots during that time. Most just used early drafts and had to make last minute changes with cheap shortcuts. Nowadays, the popular strategy is just using a single free mobile game with content updates for special releases, like that one Marvel fighter (Contest of Champions, I think it's called).

LEGO games and the odd kids movie like Cars 3 etc.
Besides that there isn't much, unless you want to include franchises that started with movies...eg Alien Isolation.

    Spoiler warning:

I still see the occasional Disney movie game and whatnot.

Why worry about their disappearance? It's not like there were that many gems.
