Exclamation Commodore 64 & Preservation Project: How to run on Windows & Android

    Hey,

I'm trying out some Commodore 64 (Including Preservation Project), games from here at Emuparadise, in Vice 2.1 for Windows, & as well as on Frodo C64 for Android. I'm a complete idiot when it comes to Commodore 64, (even though it resembles a computer), as I never had the luxury of owning one, growing up. Other than unzipping the files from downloading them here, what do I need to know on both platforms, to get a game to run. I have only played one C64 game, & that's Pitstop II, but it was made available as a Virtual Console download on my Wii (which the shop store, is scheduled to close in about another year). I could use the help, as I hear some of the C64 games (especially the racing ones) are awesome, though I couldn't find any screen grabs. Thanks guys!

    Info about WinVICE functions etc...

I believe the most recent stable release is 3.1.

My WinVICE came from the emulator download page on the website. It may have been old. I'm also trying out Frodo C64 for Android. Like I said, I never had a Commodore 64, so it's pretty much foreign to me, other than it resembles one of those old timey computers, like from the original 1982 Knight Rider TV series. I did notice, after unzipping, that the Preservation Project games have a different file extension, etc, than the regular C64 games.

C64 games were released on cassette, floppy disk and cartridge. Not all games are available on all the different media though.

I was using VIC-20 computers in primary school

I've never heard of one. I think the earliest computer I remembered learning on was an Apple IIe, lol Talk about OLD!

I tried to set up the controller in WinVice, but zero luck. A joystick & a USB game pad. I'm guessing Frodo C64 for Android, mainly uses the touch screen...

Did you check out the section on joystick emulation on that page I linked to?

You can just use numpad for controls on PC instead of a joystick. Other keyboard keys might be needed for some games anyway...long time since I played it but I recall Elite uses the keyboard as well as a joystick anyway.

My computer is a notebook, not a desktop PC. Also, what will I need to know for a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, as I'm considering one?
