Default What are some of your favorite horror games?

So, we all know this is October, the month of Halloween and scares. Which leads me to my title, what are some horror games you guys like, or even love? Here are some of my favorites: Fatal Frame II - Crimson Butterfly, Resident Evil Remake (sometimes just called REmake) for the Gamecube, PS3/PS4, 360/Xbox One and PC. And my all time favorite horror game, Alien Isolation. Love this game. Only finished it twice because of how scary it is. Would love to hear from you guys though. What are some games you play for the Halloween season?

Resident Evil series, Dead Island series & Dying Light. Metro 2033 & Last Light.
Alien Isolation would have to be my biggest favourite though I've completed it 100% on 3 platforms so far. Wish there was a sequel for that

Dead Island is horror? I've never played em, I always thought they were action games with zombies. Sorta like Dying Light. I'm with you though, I wish there was a sequel to Isolation. Which do you find scarier by the way, the Working Joes, or the Xenomorph?

The aliens give you more of a fright, both warriors and facehuggers. The androids are mostly amusing and not deadly.

Yes zombies are horror. RE series has a lot of action.

Alien: Isolation, in a completely dark room with headphones is the next best thing to VR. I discovered, quite by accident, that you can swat a facehugger out of the air with your maintenance jack.

Dead Island is also good. The sense of paranoia that you MUST stomp every head you see to keep them from popping up behind you can lead to some pretty intense dreams.

Yeah lights off but I use surround sound including 2 subs. Makes it seem like an interactive movie

The only game that I'd call a "horror game" that I even like would have to be Spec Ops: The Line.

Let's see - the Darkseed series, because it goes so far beyond "horror" that it kinda lapses into horror-comedy. Alone in the Dark is good. Doom actually used to give me nightmares - and I still feel uncomfortable sometimes in vanilla (I prefer FreeDOOM or other WADpacks). Eternal Darkness is just awesome.

    Can't think of any others.

That definitely fits the concept of horror game because goddamn if that game doesn't go there

For me, besides the incredibly obvious pick of Resident Evil 4 (because duh) and maybe Killer7 if you really stretch things because it steals so much from David Lynch, I'd have to say either Masochisia or The Suffering.

The Suffering is, like, a near perfect mixture of satisfying mechanics and atmosphere. It's like Silent Hill with the constant implications replaced with suffocating violence and gore, and it works really well with the prison and rage themes. On the other hand, no game has ever gotten in my head so well and stayed there as much as Masochisia did. It's a short, cheap indie adventure game that deals with topics of mental stability, fate, and abuse, and it does it in a brilliantly meta way that ends up flipping around what seems to be the entire point once you reach the end.

The fact that the revelation that you're playing as
    Spoiler warning:
real life serial killer with possibly over 100 victims Albert Fish

ends up being one of the minor revelations should tell you a lot.

Also, the scene with the gears.

THE SCENE WITH THE FUCKING GEARS.

I'm not strictly horror during Halloween, but horror-themed? Hell yeah.

I do annual halloween-playthroughs of CarnEvil, so far I've played through it like 6 times. Night Slashers is pretty cool, although it certainly has that Data East "quality". Splatterhouse goes without saying.
Finally bought a Dreamcast so I'll be playing Illbleed, Carrier, Blue Stinger and RE2/3 once that arrives. Also got REmake lined up on PC.

Played through Michigan: Report from Hell for the first time yesterday and I don't think I've ever been more bored with a videogame.

Oh man, I love Parasite Eve. The first one especially. 2 was also really really good. And, I'd prefer we pretend The 3rd Birthday doesn't exist.
