    Default PS2 Fat 50001 HELP

Hello people, I REALLY need your knowledge this time hopefully someone here can help me here I go:
I have 2 fat Play Station 2, both are model SCPH-50001/N
Both have lens, 1 of them reads Original PS1 cd games, doesnt read PS2 DVD at all
The other one reads PS1 originals and PS1 backups but doesnt read DVDs at all
Appart from that, both systems seems to be functioning well I REALLY want to put the to work properly so I need some advice on soft modding them
1-I want to softmod them so they both read games out of pendrives (usb sticks)
The thing is the only soft mod method I've come across needs the DVD to work properly, so I need a methods were I dont use the DVD drives to softmod them.
2-I was thinking about tinkering a bit with the lenses potentiometers..any advice on this? sicne the CD reading part of both consoles is good, I'm going to mess around with only the DVD potentiometers.

I'd appreciate any kind of advice and help about this... Since I got a couple days off, and hopefully I will be able to set these consoles to work before I go back to my usual duties.
    THANKS!

BTW I got a free 8mb memory card for this to work and a 32gb usb stick

In order to do anything, you're going to need to load FMCB onto your memory card. Without playing DVDs there's a few ways to do that. You can have a local friend that already has FMCB hook you up (it's easy to load more cards once you have one), you can mail away your card to somebody online who'll load it up for you, or you can just buy a card preloaded with FMCB.

USB game loading kinda sucks for PS2 softmods. You have a fat PS2, stick a hard drive into it. You need just need a network adapter (those are pretty cheap nowadays) if you have an old IDE HD that fits kicking around. If you don't have a IDE HD, they're making new SATA network adapters nowadays. But I think some of those may not actually have network ports? Which would be a problem if you wanna FTP games onto your HD. You'd might want to do a little research online if you go for a SATA adapter.
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

Thanks for your response... let's say none I know is into these kind of things, even less email it to someone, (im not even from the USA), are those the only possible options for a PS2 softmod? if so, isnt there a way to burn the necesssary files into a CD instead of a DVD since 1 of the consoles reads backup CD quite well.

There may be a few downsampled or content cut dvd games that have been trimmed down to fit on a cd. No clue. But generally speaking dvd games are just way to big to fit. There are quite a few games that were released on cd though so I assume those would work

Did a quick google and found this list, probably a better list out there but just had a quick look.

You're best option is really to go with what Ragnar said unless you have a decent pc then you could of course emulate with pcsx2

IDE HDD (Sata HDD with IDE convertion) or Network streaming (you need the Network hardware for both of those though)

USB is just far too slow (it's the USB ports on the PS2 that are too slow)

There are a few CD rips around though kinda hard to find now and the kits are almost all gone now to do that yourself, I can think of one site that may still have a bunch of those, they will have content removed though and plenty of games simply will never fit onto CD

soft mod though can only read DVD's but sounds like one of your consoles is actually mod chipped

    Mod projects - XBOX
Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 & 2 - online quests in offline mode packs [COMPLETE]
    [Quest Packs Collection]
GTA San Andreas - Hot Coffee [COMPLETE]
[Mod ready] & [Full ISO ready]
GTA San Andreas - Real Car Names extra content mod [WIP] [Back burner, just won't have the time ]
Please can all ESR users post your results here to help with the project and others wanting to use ESR

Are you asking if you can get FMCB with a CD drive? Is Zorlon correct here?

If your system is chipped you can burn a CD with uLaunchElf:
    https://www.epforums.org/showthread....8ISO-format%29

Then you can install FMCB and a hard drive loader onto your memory card. You can try that USB loader if you really want, but you should really spend the money to set up a network adapter and a compatible HD.

Yes, one of the consoles has a physical chip its actually a Duo 2 SE chip, the other one idk, since I hacent tested it for or nor have I opened it.

EXACTLY! one of those CD rips is exactly what I need here....if I oculd find one, that would be like perfect

-Yes I was hoping there was a CD version of FMCB
-Thanks for the link! let me see...so downloading ulaunchelf burning it to a cd will let me install FMCB on my memory card through my modded console, and then set up a usb stick with usb loader? if that's the case that's exactly what Im looking for. I might need to get linked to the proper tutorial

sent you a quick PM with a link to CD rip kits

Most users now prefer to have nothing removed from there games or down-sampled so finding anything pre done Rip wise is going to hard to find now

Here's an OPL compatibility list you can look at to get an idea of the limited games you can use via USB (and even if they do work there may still be some issues):
    http://www.ps2-home.com/forum/page/o...ibility-list-1

If you don't want to spend money on proper HDD and adapter you might want to consider SMB loading at least.
