Default ePSXe doesn't play Japanese roms

    I use ePSXe2 on a Windows 10 computer.

The emulator doesn't have any problems with American and European roms but doesn't play any Japanese roms.

When I try to run a Japanese game I only get a black screen and in the top right corner is an image of a Playstation controller with the word 'STANDARS' written on top. I've tried several different bios images, but that doesn't change anything.

One thing that is strange about the Japanese roms on Emuparadise that every archive file contains another archived file. I tried running the game with that file zipped and unzipped but that doesn't change anything.

    Because they're ps2 bios's

    Why he linked to those

There are bios packs here on the forum I would do a search and grab one and try a couple.

I found the problem. I had to rename the files contained in the Japanese zip files. They were all called "Track01.bin.ecm" and they need to have the same name as the .cue files. The games are now working perfectly fine.

If you run into any more problems with those, look for a thread here called Zorlon's guide to ECM and APE files. They're not fully extracted yet so some parts may not work right.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.
