House of Dead 3 CHD and Rom not working

I have the latest version of Mame, I am trying to run The house of the dead 3 and I have downloaded the rom and the CHD file from this site and put them in the correct folders I believe but when trying to load the rom it says the CHD is missing?

Rom is zipped in the rom folder, chd is in a folder named hotd3 and that folder is also in the rom folder. I have a bunch of other chds I put in this same way and they work, am I naming something wrong?

You sure you have the gdx-0001.chd in the hotd3 folder and that it's ~353MB? Not sure how CHDs are here in EP, but I have the latest version Roms, CHDs and MAMEUI and it loads up for me (obviously the game itself won't work 'cuz Chihiro).

Try grabbing the older version of MAME as the roms target version 184 of MAME not the latest version that may use a newer dump or newer CHD compression

Biggest problem with MAME, users have is all the updates that are not just to the program itself but also to the roms that get redumped

Yes I have the CHD in the correct folder, I think it is something to do with the bios, you say obviously it wont work because of chihiro, what do you mean? How can you get it to load if you then say it wont work? I downloaded the Bios as well but didnt do anything different.

Not going back to a old version of Mame for one game as all my roms are for this latest version.

I have seen Youtube videos of this game working, so it can be done somehow?

I would still grab the a gui version and use the audit option for that game (it's on a right click at the game selection screen) doing that will tell you exactly what is wrong with it be it a missing rom file or a incorrect crc check for any rom files or the chd

P.S. you can have multiple versions of MAME in the same folder just make sure they are not named the same

What I meant is that the game itself probably won't be playable for a while since Chihiro emulation is preliminary at the very best AFAIK. I tried it myself and it's at like 5% speed on the boot screen, can't imagine playing it like that.

Also you're most likely actually seeing videos of the PC version, I haven't tried it recently but it does run on Windows 7 at least. House of the Dead 2 & 3 for Wii is probably easy to emulate as well.

Like I said it will tell you exactly what is wrong not just say a rom or chd is missing if you use the audit option

I also said that roms and chd's change as MAME itself changes

Wii version as above has a better chance of being playable also

I played the game via my Wii directly myself, best one is Overkill that is just far too much fun
