    Default Dumping Carts

I apologize in advance if asking this here is not kosher.

What is the hardware involved for dumping cart games into ROMS? Where should I be looking for this stuff?

There were a multitude of dumping devices back in the day, like the Game Doctor or Super Wild Card for the SNES. Here's some info Google turned up:

Copiers similar to these existed for most consoles. Although some carts were built to be undumpable. Those carts were mostly dumped by removing the memory chips from carts and reading them with eeprom readers.

You can't really buy copiers anymore, they aren't being made. You might be able to find somebody selling an old unit on Craigslist or something, but most will cost you $100 or more. You won't find these on eBay, their sale was prohibited there ages ago (although something might slip on occasionally, I think eBay has forgotten about them).
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

Ragnar is correct in saying that old backup devices such as the Super wild Card were used for dumping ROMS. You also had the V64 for the N64 and Super Magic Drive for the Mega drive or a Double Pro Fighter that could do both SNES and Mega Drive. There were various carts for Gameboys etc.

Move on a few years and you could use a Retrode to dump carts for most systems.

Another choice is a guy from Assemblergames that makes and sells a Nintendo Cartridge Reader and Flashrom Programmer. https://assemblergames.com/threads/n...grammer.62063/

I saw the Retrode, but the people who make it currently are out of stock. Their site says they should have it again July of 2017 but...
