Default Sega CD background sound issue on PSP.

I've tried everything I can think of and am unable to get the background music working for Sega CD games using Iso/Cso files with Picodrive for the PSP. Been using Picodrive 1.51 and now I've signed an Eboot for Picodrive 1.91 22.05.2017 and got that working (I'm on ofw 6.61) and still the same issue persists.

The background music plays fine when I use Bin/Cue format but that's taking up soo much space on my memory card. I've tried the bin_to_cso_mp3 converter and no luck. I tried WinISO to turn my BIN into an ISO/MP3 and no luck. I've found prepacked ISO/MP3 files and no luck. Everything that I can see is named correctly, ie SONIC CD_01 etc, the bin_to_cso_mp3 does all that for you and renamed them myself with other programmes. I've even tried converting the MP3 files into WAV and that's not worked either. I'm clearly doing something wrong, can't for the life of me think what it is though.

My PSP is a model 3003.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I had this working fine a few years back

You do use cue file don't you?
and the cue file does look for the correct files and extensions?

I've actually read your old article Zorlon, haha!

I've googled all over trying to figure out the issue with no luck. And yes of course, loading from the CUE. I used the bin to cso pack in your old thread complete with lame etc and although that seems to have converted fine there's no background sound. Its possible the emulators I've tried just don't support mp3's though the 1.91 picodrive does state it plays them. Sound quality is fine using BIN/CUE and loading from the cue but any attempt to play ISO/CSO with mp3 files has resulted in no background music. I'm also limited to using ofw emulators (though somehow I managed to sign the latest picodrive build and it works). I'd rather not mess around with cfw because I can't really afford to replace a PSP if a mess it up at the moment.

''and the cue file does look for the correct files and extensions??''

Not 100% sure what you mean by this.

I managed to get them working. Playing via OFW with the signed Picodrive 1.91 Eboot wouldn't play the background music but when I tried via CFW the background sound came to life, working fine.
