    Default *Error loading plugins/GPU Core

    Hardware information:

    System- Windows 7 Ultimate/64-bit
    System model- emachines G443
    BIOS- InsydeH20 Version CCB.03.61.02V1.01
    Processor- AMD E-350 Processor (2CPU's) 1.6Hz
    Memory- 8192MB RAM
    Direct-X Version- Direct 11

    Emulator information:

ePSXe v. 1.6+Plugins+BIOS (Tried to use v. 2.05 but it didn't work either)

    Problem:

    I downloaded Castlevania-Symphony Of The Night (E)
I open ePSXe program, hit file-run-ISOS
I choose Castlevania-Symphony of the night.ecm.bin. file and open it
Then this error message pops up: *error loading plugins/GPU Core

Help would be appreciated, and if you need any other information I'll try and give it.
Anxious to play this game! It is one of my favs.

Ecm file looks like. It's a weird not often used compression. Use unecm, pakkiso or if on Android - ZArchiver to extract yet again.

Think we have the first 2 on the main site and the android one should be free on google store.

You should think about updating that version of epsxe (2.0 should be ok, 2.0.5 seems to be giving people problems) or use retroarch.

Edit: just went through it myself!!!

I downloaded 2.0 but my virus protection Norton360 file insight says it has low reputation so therefore, it is not safe. Same with 1.8w/plugins. Damn, I tried to adjust my Norton settings but didn't help... Do you or anyone have any knowledge on how to bypass this via Norton360 settings? I'm a little bit on edge with security so I don't want to mess up anything with my virus protection.

EDIT: Norton360 removes AUTOMATICALLY some of the needed files from the ePSXe 2.0 and 1.8
EDIT2: When I download the game I automatically get the ecm file. How can I change it to another format?

Unecm and use the latest version of 7zip (from the official site) to extract...it's freeware.
I have no idea if pakkiso is needed

Norton360 is overzealous with protection. You'll probably get false positives fairly frequently if you're downloading game backups and using emus.
I'm not sure how to add exceptions in it tbh.

Allright. I downloaded 7zip and removed Winrar, then I downloaded epsxe 1.8 and Symphony Of The Night again and there was no problem with Norton360 antivirus anymore. But when I extracted the game from 7zip it is not in .unecm form but .7z form. How do I change it to the unecm form? Seems to me that this is the only obstacle between me and the game at this point.

EDIT: Downloaded unecm program and extracted it from 7zip to my downloads file but it is also in .7z format and all it does is just opens a black text window and nothing else?

Metal Gear Solid 2 is not a PSX game, it will never work with ePSXe

There are plenty of perfect to hassle PSX disc images here in the forum, here is castlevania SOTN - https://www.epforums.org/showthread....levania+redump

Do yourself a huge favor and don't waste any time with epsxe, use RetroArch as Zal stated as it is the truly superior method to enjoy some Playstation.

If you need tips on ONE TIME SETUP then please feel free to ask in a thread and I shall reply if available or some other RetroArch user will gladly give sound advice.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

Tried what??? I know Castlevania works fine played it years ago though if I was to play it again I would be playing the version included with the Dracula X Chronicles

The ecm file will need to be converted if that is still the issue

Can you not see the quotes? OP listed a [email protected] processor, and some other recommended RetroArch. Having tried it on my [email protected] laptop, I can tell you that RetroArch itself (menus) is barely operational on that rig, and since software tends to need more powerful hardware as it's upgraded, that performance is probably much worse now or may not run at all.

But ePSXe works fine on the [email protected] machine. And since the problem here was the ECM compression, Jontte should probably stick with ePSXe for now.
