Default Sega Saturn Dragon Ball Z Shinbuthoden iso problems

I'm having problems with the iso for Dragon Ball Z Shinbuthoden. Its a 1 on 1 fighting game for Saturn. Everything runs fine in the emulator I'm using but at the conclusion of the first round of a fight it "freezes". All the animations are still active but it doesn't load the next round. This also happens when I burn a disc of the iso and play it on actual hardware. I also noticed there is no music for the fights, but all other audio seems to be ok. I really want to play this game but can't figure out what could be causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sound like either the cue file is not correct or you are running the bin file directly either could cause CDDA tracks not to be readable (that includes burning) this will also be the cause of the crashing

Thanks for the response. I followed the tutorial and changed the cue sheet in notepad. Didn't fix it. Then I generated a new cue sheet, still the same problem. I tried opening the cue in cdmage and I get the error message "invalid format of cue file" "error in file statement" "Line:5"

    Any thoughts?

how about you post what is in the cue sheet so I can see for myself

just copy and paste the contents of the cue file

also list the files that you have for the game including the exact file names with extensions

MP3 is the issue, most CD image reading software will not work with MP3's

Covert all of those to Wav

LameDropXPd is a cool way of doing that or just use whatever sound converting tool you are used to

for the above you just to run LamedropXPd and drag and drop the mp3 files, it does the rest for you

Mini guide to edit the cue file

    • open the cue in notepad
    • hit CTRL+H
    • type
    • .mp3" MP3
    • in the top box
    • type
    • .wav" WAVE
    • in the lower box
    • hit Replace All
    • Save it

If you want to convert that to a single bin+cue then recommend ISObuster for doing that (free version is enough no need to buy it at all)

some image reading software including burning software may have problems with disc images that have sound stored externally to a binary image, e.g. bin+wav+cue

    Mini guide for ISObuster
    • download and install ISObuster
    • Run ISO buster
    • Hit File then Open Image File
    • Select the cue file (or ccd file)
    • This should now show a list of tracks on the left
    • Hit File then CD then Extract CD <Image> then RAW (*.bin *.iso)
    • Change the Save Type from *.iso to *.bin
    • In the File Name: text box, rename the output file (do not forget to change .iso to .bin on the end of it)
    • Change the destination folder if you like then hit Save
    • After this has completed you will then be asked to save a cue file, just hit Save

Ok so I think I found the overall problem. I converted all the .mp3 to .wav. Then i updated the .cue sheet. I then opened the cue in iso buster to make a .bin file. While it was extracting the file it said it could not read one of the sectors. Is this the problem? I chose to replace the sector then ran it in the emulator and the same problem occurred. Not sure what else to do.

I ran it in cdmage it said there were no errors. So I checked it again. Tested it in the emulator and it still had the same problem. I did get the image from here. If you have time to check it out i'd really appreciate it. Either way thanks for the help. I learned some new trouble shooting skills haha.

want to link it for me?

    nevermind found it

    converted the mp3's to wav's

though yeah got the same thing when using ISO buster but music seems to work from the mp3 to wav convert anyway

just testing via SSF using Daemon tools Lite as a virtual CD, though does seem to be graphically glitched but that is an emulator fault as Yabause is visually glitch free but is a bit laggy atleast was for me

I thought to take it a step further and see if ISObuster would create that single bin+cue from the Virtual drive and guess what that worked fine

Just make sure whatever is reading it reads it from the cue file

    EDIT

CDMage scanned this time (the single bin+cue) and reports 150 errors (rebuild sector fields fixed those though)

SSF re-tested and still works though the graphical glitch only shows when the intro plays the second time, can't say if those sector errors are intentional errors or not (some though admit very few actually do have errors in the CD structure but those are there from the day the disc was originally pressed) for now I would try without repairing those
