I have no idea if you can use the audio through av cable and the hdmi at the same time on those consoles.
Never tried that, I've had at least one receiver that can take optical and coaxial digital audio forever

Grab a dvi to hdmi adapter (ebay should have them cheap if you can't find locally) and see if you can run rca audio and hdmi video then.
Or don't you have a console to test with at all?

standard speaker wire inputs and 2 other not sure what they're called probably rca on top is the headphone jack that I have a set of mini speakers plugged into.

PS3 40GB fat should be dirt cheap, or an old 360. The PS3 might be an easer option though 'cos you can just throw in a larger laptop HDD easily.
You just need a thumb drive with the same OFW that is already installed to upgrade the HDD.

no console with hdmi to test with unless there's an hdmi adapter for psp.
