MAMEUIFX and DS4Windows

Hi all,
I am using DS4Windows to connect my DS4 controller to my PC (using Windows 10)
In all windows games it works excellent and flawlessly but not when I start a game in MAMEUIFX.
I am trying to play Bubble Bobble Lost Cave, the game works very nice with my keyboard, but when trying to use the DS4 controller nothing works, as if I don't have a controller plugged in at all.
From some searching in this forum I see I'm not the only one facing this issue, but I haven't noticed anyone manged to figure it out.

Any ideas or solutions?

Have you done the whole

Once the game is running press Tab
then go to controls to config the joypad to the buttons ect there

You can either do that per game or do them as general that will set it up for all games

that goes for all version of MAME

the gui will also need to have joypad/sticks enabled if it is not to start with

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried to use your solution but it didn't work for me.
First, I couldn't find any option to choose joypad, but anyway, since I'm using a PS4 dualshock controller it woulnd't be recognized as a joystick.
Second, I have mapped the buttons in my PS4 controller to keyboard strokes, and the strokes are recognized in windows, but when I start the game in MAMEUIFX no button of the controller is recognized (Keyboard works fine)

Any idea?

Actually the pad will be recognised as a joypad as it basically acts as a 360 pad when not mapped to keyboard keys

In MAMEUI the option is under Options > Default Game Properties > Controllers (There is also a Controller Mapping Tab there) [I do not know about the version you use as I don't use it]

You will still need to use the in-game Tab options also if only to setup default controls

Sorry if I'm a bit lost since I'm a newbie in this.
When I look for the setting you suggested, I see that joystick is already enabled, but the controller doesn't wirk in game.
Should I change anything else?

remove the keyboard mapping from the controller

then try, mapping the joypad in-game again with the TAB key options

Boot up any game

Press TAB

You can use your mouse now

Select Input (there is one for This Game and a General one)

Double click the option you want

Double click the key you need to change

Now press the button on your pad you want for that button ect (or press Esc on your keyboard to blank that key if you mess it up)

Repeat for all the input you need to

Dear Zorlon, you're the man! A thousand thanks.
Problem solved.
Just for the record, if someone else will face the same problem, the solution was very simple.
1. Use the default profile in DS4Winfows - do not map any button in the DS4 controller.
2. Make sure 'enable joystick input' is checked (it is default, but make sure)
3. Inside the game press 'tab' Select Input for this game and map the desired buttons in the controller, they are recognized out of the box.
