Default Poor compression ratio when I convert PS1 game with Redbook audio to PSP's PBP format

Why can't PSX2PSP compress audio tracks more? It almost does no compression at all. I understand that PSPs maybe can't handle that but they also can't handle compression level 9 and it's still there.
I don't need this for PSP. I just want to compress my ISO's in the way emulators can read them directly without extracting.

compression level 9 is fine as long as your memcard is fast enough

I was sure there was ceratin cd plugins that allowed compressed games but you will still hit the same issue as CDDA raw tracks just don't compress

If emulators could use flac or ape for audio tracks that would solve this problem so I could use PBP for data track and flac or ape for audio tracks and cue file to run.
I don't see why is this so hard to accomplish. I often play music from my library of flac tracks while playing certain games.

PBP are Sony files and that is up to them

You could just use CD emulation software though that supports lossy and/or lossless codecs as long as you store data and cdda track seperate like in redump disc images
