Default How come some games have a date modified of 12/24/1996?

I see it all the time with some Mega Man Battle Network games and it always baffles me. http://prntscr.com/eubhl4 the one for Battle Network 2 had the same date but it changed when I took out one of those horrid cracktros. Some games have dates like 2001 as shown with WarioLand 4 but most of them have 12/24/1996

Those are file dates they have nothing to do with when the game was made or anything like that, dates can be set by some software and was possibly set at the time of compression

The date shown in windows by default is the modification date again this does not reflect on the date the game was made if you hit properties you can see a creation dates and other dates but these all reflect on the file itself and still nothing to do with when the game was made

Not sure if those are GBA or DS games but whatever those are may have dates set in the headers that would be dates of when the game was made (those dates may be earlier than the release dates of the games though)

At the end of the day those dates don't have any importance at all

So unimportant and easily editable, nobody would ever think to hide secret messages there ...
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here
