Default Which CDs are best for burning PS1 games

I use verbatim discs and my PS1 can't load some games and in other games cutscenes don't run smoothly but gameplay runs OK.
Games which it can't load work fine when I put them in PC and run with emulator.
CDs are burned with slowest speed my CD burner can provide which is 16X.
Does CD brand matter and if it does which one do you recommend me?

PC drives, like standalone BD/DVD/CD players are much more forgiving with media quality.

The absolute best CD-R media is Taiyo Yuden, but apparently there are some fakes out there.

how much does CD brand matter and what settings for burning should I use? I assume slowest possible speed is best. Is it worth investing in CDs or does my PS1 CD drive need replacing?

Brand doesn't matter so much, it's the manufacturer that is important (who made the discs).
Some verbatim are ok but it's possible that you got some poor quality discs.

I actually meant how much disc quality matters and is it worth upgrading or should I get a new CD drive for PS1.
maybe it's best to buy 1 good quality CD and check if it works with game which couldn't run before.
    Thank you!
BTW do you have any special method for burning? I burn using imgburn at slowest possible speed.

A new drive for the PSX/PSone will make zero difference unless the drive is worn to start with then that may be oif help if you can even buy them new still

if some games run OK (cutscenes could run smoother) I'm going to assume that the drive works fine. I was wondering how much difference quality of discs means.
    Thank you!
