    Default GRAINY?!?! (PS2 emulation)

Hello I have everything working for my PS2 emulator. got the games i want and everything is running smooth. Only problem is theirs a lot of picture noise or "static" i know the PS2 is an older console and these games are very old but i dont remember them having so much picture noise. usually they run at a resolution of about 512x488. any idea how i can make it more crisp and less 'fuzzy' - Thanks

also is there any way to lock game speed at 100%

Yeah you're gonna get some pixelization at native and or stretching on a modern tv. If it doesn't slow down too much or at all you can try setting at 2x native to smooth things out a tad.

There are frame limiting options under config - video- core gs and then the gs tab along with frame skipping etc.

Some games take more CPU power than others to run, so if you have speed less than 100% you probably won't have an easy time locking it at 100%. There are a lot of fixes and options in PCSX2 to get things worker a little faster, but those depend on your hardware. That is all trial and error on your part.

Maybe somebody can give you some suggestions, but most of the speed hacks aren't going to work for everybody.

so im not so concerned with he locking game speed at 100% im more worried about the absurd amount of pixel noise and static that appears on these games. is that just how it is? i feel like i dont remember them being this grainy looking.

This sounds like a very very odd issue

The image should be super pixel sharp (I would understand more if you said the image was pixelated but not grainy), unless you are using some sort of filter that is distorting the image some how

How about a screen grab so we know what you are talking about

Alt+Print Screen or use the internal method to take screen grabs

IDK if thats how the game looks and im just not used to it but even with new titles like spyro and jak and daxter it has the same effect. when i watch gameplay on youtube it doesnt look Nearly as bad. Also notice the resolution. any way to increase that?

would like to see another game image that one does indeed look like it should do to be honest and looks more like in-game effects than a display issue

P.S. jpg format has quality loss to start with so still kinda hard to tell (even the text at the top is a little fuzzy), plus at a guess the image was resized when it was attached (forum limits)

You should be able to disable any native resolution options to use high res

what you have is a stretched image though as the screen grab is a little higher (width="1603" height="651") even though I am sure it was resized, than the res listed on the top bar

im saving the pic as .PNG but i do have an ultra wide monitor 2560x1080. im seting the aspect ration to be 16:9 tho. so i just get a little bigger black boxes on either side of the my screen. But is there any way i could change settings to get a more crisp image and keep it running at 100% game speed? i have a strong PC.

Reduce your game window size to match native PS2 resolution. These games were made before HD monitors, so without some serious filters they aren't going to look Perfect.

The first image does look like in-game fog effects making it look somewhat blurry, where the second image looks very pixelated as you would expect from a game made for SD television. I also see that the second image says 66% speed on the title screen, which leads me to believe you aren't going to get the look and performance you want without reducing the window size.

so i figured it out guys! i had to go into
config -> GS -> plugin settings.

changed adapter to my gtx 1070 render to direct3D11 and internal resolution to 6x native. now everything is running at 100% game speed and looks sharp and crisp
