    Default Laptop Question.

Ironic im asking for help with computers, but moving on..

I bought myself a laptop whilst im in the hospital, nothing fancy.
Just something to keep me busy and mess about the net.

However, back home I play myself some World of Warcraft/LK/PS.
Now, the specs on this laptop are ones I picked out myself for the price I was willing to pay.

I know from sites that the CPU/RAM can easily play LK. But..

    Specs:

    i5 2540m 2.6
    4 GB DDR3
However, the onboard GPU is a Intel HD 3000.

Now, I understand that GPU is tied into the i5. However, according to the sites I used "can I play this/etc".
I selected Pandora Mist, and of course the cpu and ram maxed it out. All in the green.

However, the Intel HD 3k was in dark red. And hardly even close to the min bar setting.

My question is this, you think because it's LK and not higher expantion. That I might get away with running it on some level?.
Or simply put, wait until I get home lol?.

Thanks in advance for the info/help.

Zal and some other members probably know how to squeeze the most out of a laptop running integrated intel gpu, but pushing those things too hard is inadvisable
Pretty sure if you have a desktop mb with decent overclocking options and that gpu you can push it without as much risk though.

So yeah...lowest settings, see what you can run and put up with. Or wait until you go home.

    Spoiler warning:

you just need moded drivers it will give few fps but they are "experimental" finding them is easy just name of your gpu+ moded drivers
you can have bluescreen etc... use at own risk on my dell 420 ewen with moded drives called "chell" i dont see much difference
integreted card is good for : old pc games like heroes3 and 2d emulators example : nestopia
also few indie games should run but for new games answer is no

Intel gpu's are quite often in the red on sites like can I run this, game debate etc. Doesn't mean it won't work though. I would stick with the most up to date official drivers and absolutely stay away from any game boosting software.

That said I don't see any harm in testing the game out. Play in game for a few a little bit and check the temp with whatever software you like. If it's extraordinarily high say above 70 you probably don't want to push it. If it's lower than that you're probably fine, just don't play for like 12 hours straight

Set things like shadows and extra lighting off or low. And don't bother with any type of AA and stuff. Another rule of thumb I've noticed if the game lags or chugs but still playable stay away. Try to get running smoothly with whatever graphics options. And stay away from PS2/GC emulation. They have a habit of really killing intel gpus, personal experience for sure on that one lol.

World of Warcraft is getting fairly old now. Dunno about all the expansions but the game should work. Should be able to run Skyrim with decent settings too for example.

Yeah, it ran it. And playable, to a point.
To be honest, might be better off waiting until I get out of here first lol.

Thanks for the tips and advice everyone

THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.
