Default Can't run PSX games on PSP???

    Hi Guys,

I've a few PS1 ISOs from this site, they are .bin.ecm file which have been converted to just .bin, but I can't seem to get them running on the PSP... Anyone able to shed any light on this?

When I got the files they were .rar, then extracted & .bin.ecm, now just .bin.
Do I need to convert to something else? Or am I missing something on the PSP that I need to run then? I'm pretty new to all this.

    Thanks.

    C

    Default

The PSP does not run PSX CD images directly it uses and emulator known as Pops (An official PSX emulator for the PSP that is built into the firmware)

    You can either run official
PSone Classics (I think all my uploads are dead now though of those ) [If you find any you can run those directly without any extra plugins]
    Or you can run
PSX2PSP eboot converts but you will want a couple of new plugins to go with those and most will not run directly on
You will be after Popsloader and all the older versions of Pops to go with that plugin
You will also want CDDA Enabler v2

You can find some premade PSX2PSP converts on the main site

you extract those that should give you a folder with an eboot in it and maybe more files

    store that folder in PSP/Game

    for example for Xgame
    PSP/Game/Xgame/eboot.pbp

Both PSone Classics and PSX2PSP converts are stored on the PSP the exact same way

Creating your own eBoot use something like PSX2PSP v1.4

    Pros and Cons

    PSone Classics
    Pros
    These just run perfect
    Cons
Some are designed to run on different hardware though like PS3 or Vita that will not stop the games working fine, but what will stop you with some is the few Analog only games as PSP does not have Analog support, thankfully those are few and far between
Limited to what was officially released in PSone Classic format

    PSX2PSP eboots
    Pros
More games available and can use custom GUI icons music ect as well as custom documents though those could be used with official PSone Classics also
    Cons
Extra plugin/s needed by most converts (though once the correct version of pos is found to run the game the PSP remembers that so the pops version selector does not need to be activated again once setup correctly)
Some users find this difficult to create there own working games
You may of thought you found the correct version of pops only for issues to show late in the game

Just use both so go for PSone Classics when possible and use PSX2PSP converts for those games not available as PSone Classics

    EDIT:-

Moved thread from Everything Emulation that is for PC users to Everything Console that is for Console users including emulation on consoles
