Cool Air Combat Games Discussion Thread

Let me get something out of the way here: I've just always enjoyed air combat games. Starting with the old Rogue Squadron games on Nintendo 64 and GameCube, then the Ace Combat series(of which my first was 5: The Unsung War; still my favorite, too), then UbiSoft's Blazing Angels games.

And there's a new Ace Combat on the horizon, AC 7, and the good news about this game just seems to keep coming. Here's a selection of articles about it from DualShockers: http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/12/...ng-real-world/ http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/12/...ive-storyline/ http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/12/...vr-on-famitsu/ http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/12/...d-information/ http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/12/...kazutoki-kono/ http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/12/...gereal-reason/ http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/12/...hter-jet-porn/

Okay, I'm going to confess that this was mostly just an excuse to post lots of Ace Combat 7 news and discuss why it's such a great thing that 1) we're going back to Strangereal, 2) major players from Unsung War's development are coming back and 3) PSVR is going to be entirely optional. I'm being completely honest when I say that Ace Combat 7 is pretty much the only "Coming Soon" title I've got any hype for right now.

    Pilots, we're coming home.

    I like Ace Combat.

Still have ACE 0 for the ps2 and still play 6 on the 360 from time to time.

Always liked flying games. My first fave was probably Tie Fighter for DOS wayyy back in and around '94. Not quite the same thing but still great.

Hell I've even been known to play MS Flight Simulator too. No combat just the joy of flight!

That just reminds me I should pick up the original Ace Combat for PS1. I never owned it but I played it at a family friend's house often when I was little.

Cool Bumping with BIG "Ace Combat 7" news.

It's no longer PS4 exclusive. You heard me.

Now we're all going back to Osea, PS4 or not. Unless your only console is a Switch, in which case you're SOL.

If I find the UMD again I'd definitely like to go through Ace Combat X on the PSP again, I miss it.

But other than that I've considered grabbing AC1 off of the main site and trying that out a couple of times, but now I'm on a new system and the drivers for my controller don't work on win 10 for some reason.

I also played the F2P one and Assault Horizon on the PS3 at least a little.

I was always a fan of Ace Combat ever since playing the Ace Combat 2 demo on the demo disk that came with my PS1 back in 1997. I ended up buying Ace Combat 4 and 5 in the PS2 era. I played the FtP Ace Combat on PS3 for just a couple of hours but never really got into it due to it being FtP. However, I am mildly excited for Ace Combat 7. While I seriously doubt I will have a VR headset it would be awesome to play it in VR.
